The one thing I like about GameStop’s preorder systems is being able to pay things off a little at a time. Much as I do enjoy Prime’s discount, it’s nice (especially for large purchases, like systems) to be able to pay a deposit and then come in and pay it off a little at a time instead of taking one huge financial

Guy I knew who worked as an ASM was fired for working through the night a couple of times to clean the store up since there was no way it would’ve gotten done otherwise.

Oh I definitely /prefer/ Story over this. Having sunk 4-ish hours into Next Order, I can already say that Cyber Sleuth is a better-constructed title overall. But Next Order certainly isn’t bad, it’s just its own thing.

I worked for GameStop from 2009-2014 and was a keyholder the entire time. I left when I did because the company even then was starting to do really pushy, shady things (like the store credit card), but talking to friends who are still with the company, it’s about 100 times worse than that. Fuck that company.

People clearly wanted more Digimon games following last year’s success of Cyber Sleuth, and the only Story title that didn’t make it to an English release was Lost Evolution - which is an old DS title from 2010, so that wasn’t going to happen. I think it’s got enough of a carved-out, built-in audience that it’ll do

Same character designer, yeah. And to be fair, both are just up-res versions of Vita titles. It’s not like either of them are much to write home about graphics-wise

I picked it up yesterday and I’m enjoying it, though I’ll be the first to admit it has a bizarre learning curve especially if you’ve only played Cyber Sleuth. I’ve sunk a couple hours into it so far and I’m looking forward to playing it through to the end, though I don’t know if I’ll ever consider it as on-point as

Keep in mind that this is a Digimon World title, not a Digimon Story title. Story titles have generally been very straightforward, turn-based JRPGs that are pretty easy in terms of JRPGs. World titles are more like this - more resource management, less giving orders.

Is it so much to ask for a variety in series featured on this blog that goes further than “overwatch, destiny, and the witcher”

So your headline should really say “import a glitch and definitely get that glitch”

That run as a whole was such a downer. As I said in a different thread, GDQ isn’t the place to try and set records. It’s a showcase of speedrunning online for charity. It’s not a competition. And yet the couch behaved as though something tremendous would happen on the run at any second and it was all the audience’s

I vaguely remember that. There’s definitely a few standout cringe moments from the last few years.

I enjoy Super Metroid to a point but I wish it wasn’t in the finale block every time. Like, Metroid is a fun game and all but after a point it becomes a boring and predictable run.

It was definitely frustrating this year to see overall good energy get completely killed by bad comments from the couch. Some of these guys act as though there’s a chance for a new WR on every run when in reality this is just a showcase. People need to learn to chill.

Surprised one of the cringier moments from this year wasn’t mentioned, which was when one of the couch guys told audience members to throw themselves in front of a bus during the Super Metroid run. At a charity event about saving lives. Incredible.

Sure, but I never expect sports writers to be rational

iirc that was just his response to whether or not he was named in the same document that named a bunch of other PED users.

Bonds and Clemens were notorious assholes to the press. Pudge is a good dude.

Exactly. Having “difficulty understanding” in a middle school setting could mean any number of things. It could mean she needed extra time to read instructions instead of hearing them from a teacher and immediately being able to act. It could mean she needed different kinds of assignments instead of standard ones
