For comparison, Ford’s reported 2021 R&D budget was a little over 8 billion USD. Toyota and GM spend about 10 billion a year. Musk’s bonus is almost enough to conduct 2 full years of research and development for all 3 of America’s biggest selling auto makers. And those budgets include things not even related to cars,

No we live in a world where they voted to pay him $56 billion dollars AFTER:

Too many people have learned that the quick way to money is to destroy a profitable business.  (Sears, Kmart, Toysrus, red lobster...)

Joe Biden is not trying to curb auto emissions. He just rolled back regulations on them. He campaigned on it. And he did initially push through some. But then backtracked.

Even with lowering prices, Tesla’s sales are dropping. Everything is as it should be with a board so eager to push 52 billions worth of stocks Musk’s way.

I love that we live in world where this is the news coming out of Tesla right after they voted to pay their CEO 56 billion dollarydoos.

At this point I hope they keep Musk and his stubborn ways until the bitter end when the big investors and loyalists finally have to realize that the company just isn’t worth it’s valuation and it falls HARD as the rats scramble to jump from the dying ship.

Rapid descents aren’t that bad. I’ve been involved in one for a similar situation. The pitch of the engines changes as they throttle back, there is a slight and brief feeling of negative g’s when the pilots (or auto pilot) pushes the nose over, but that’s it. A few seconds after that the descent is established and the

Q: what could Tesla have done with $56,000,000,000 in assets to improve the quality of their cars? A: a lot.

This. ^^^

Assuming they were at cruise altitude of 35,000ft, the instant the flight crew received a pressurization warning the likely donned their oxygen masks and busted out their “loss of pressurization” checklist (although some of that checklist might be memory items)

Regardless, once they established oxygen flow and

Agreed. Definitely sounds like an emergency descent, which would admittedly be a very frightening experience for the passengers.

Deliberately misleading clickbait titles? On Jalopnik?! You don’t say

Did the plane “drop” 25,000 feet as the title suggests, or did the plane simply descend 25,000 feet to equalize the cabin pressure, as the actual article suggests?

Cause the title reads like the plane lost pressure and immediately dropped 25,000 feet....which would result in some serious injuries, if not deaths, I

It’s not a “drop” - it’s a controlled descent, just at a faster rate than what would typically be used.

Looks like good fun for $10K. NP.

Already gone

Appears to be in great shape for its age, got it spruced up like a seller should (that engine bay—damn!), right in ballpark for what these Caddys go for, and despite the blacked-out look, yeah, I’d definitely pop for it. NP all day.

If the A/C works this is a NP all day long. And I despise most German vehicles.

I really like the Mach-E and was interested in buying one while my Escape was in for service. The $10,000 dealer markup (which dealers held onto way too long) killed it for me but I’m excited to see how Ford and others build out their product ranges.

I had a Fisker Ocean reserved for about two years before I got cold feet (and tired of waiting for one, frankly) and bought an EV6 GT.  Truly dodged a bullet there!
