Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
That’s just how David Cronenberg looks.
I can’t decide if this or a nod to the 2016 film as part of a multiverse would churn more chaos in the fandom...
Look, if all you want is a Dwayne Johnson sequel, just get Sean William Scott and do a sequel to The Rundown. That was a surprisingly fun action-adventure movie that deserves more attention.

Is it a CGI rendition of a beloved character played by an actor who is no longer alive?
Remaking a film that didn’t work the first time is fine. Some great gems have come out of that process. My personal favorite remake of a “bad” movie:
Hawkeye looks utterly delightful. I am way more jazzed for it than NWH. Also, the Ira Heiden thing is strangely charming. That’s someone who has great satisfaction with their job. :D
The Institute was attempting to breed watermelons with more resilient shells that could be dropped out of planes into famine-stricken areas from high altitudes. It’s canon!
Pizza cutter. All edge, no point.
....Seems like introducing 10 unknown new character all at once ,was an easy sign of a potential problem.
My take on that scene was it was supposed to call attention to Jessica transition of thinking of Paul purely as a boy/her son, someone she doesn’t need to be ashamed of nakedness or vulnerability in front of, to a man and lord of a great house, someone she does. Like, it’s fucked up on many levels of patriarchy, but I…
Midnight Special is just random things happening with no hint of an explanation, but slowly so it seems important and meaningful.
It’s been decades since I read Dune (and the subsequent novels) but as I recall, those actors are age wise appropriately cast.
What I struggled with is that the Paul character looks completely genetically unrelated to either parent.
(I know I know, genes are a wily thing but... it’s the movies, could you at least try ?)
That “The Spice” thing that everyone who’s read Dune keeps going on about? One of the reasons it’s as valuable in the fictional universe as it is is it extends lifespan, up to a factor of about three. Thus, you could argue from canon for the woman playing Jessica to be eight years older then the guy playing…
I gotta say it’s hit enough of the right buttons to warrant a watch.
Andrew Cartmel was the script editor for the series in the late 80's, during Sylvester McCoy’s run as the Doctor. He had actually planned to reveal that the Doctor was much older than previously thought, and that he (along with Rasalon and Omega) had pretty much founded Time Lord society. The show got cancelled before…
I thought the same about Shang Chi, but really enjoyed how different it was. Also, WAY more SBK than I expected.
It’s funny, I see a lot of folks on the interwebs (esp. on io9) saying that, and yet it’s projecting to open even higher than “Black Widow” and “Shang-Chi” did based on early sales tracking. So maybe it’s just connecting with people who typically don’t spend all day asking for Mephisto to show up in something.
So they’re FINALLY making a sequel to the Patrick Swayze / Demi Moore movie?
