I agree completely. I think they had a decent jump in interior quality with the V36 but this new generation seem to be less of an update.

The whole center console is completely different between automatics and manuals. And those replacement parts are expensive. Personally I think that's a bit of an unreasonable request. I think the car was designed like that on purpose so your elbow is free when shifting.

Say what you will about "cheap plastic" and phone aesthetics. I don't constantly look at my iPhone telling it how beautiful it is. I'm switching because I want a phone I can hold and use comfortably without a case. I abhor cases but I abhor putting form over function even more.
