haha, thanks, but even the OP whom I so rudely insulted wouldn't go that far.

Well my point is that a lot of the hysteria stems from the fact that a simple microUSB connector can provide all necessary functions without creating a new complicated expensive connector. That graphic doesn't take into consideration that almost all of Samsung's phones had data connectors but there was virtually

Everything you've just described is basically done over USB except for video. Something like a blood sugar monitor might use a serial port interface, but c'mon, no need to really design for that considering it can be done with USB also. The old 30-pin used analog audio, but I'm fairly certain Apple has done away with

I'm not a fan either way, but you clearly don't understand technology. Proprietary data connectors were EVERYWHERE on phones prior to the standardization of USB plugs as charger/sync ports. After such standardization, literally every other cell phone manufacturer uses a standard microUSB plug. Of course, except for

There are so many ridiculous posts on Gizmodo. At least this one is regarding a gadget and its foibles.

Sure it's usable, just like my crapberry's maps is usable. But that doesn't mean it's not a lot worse than the even dumbed down version of Google Maps in iOS5.

Schadenfreudegate?

You're judging an OS based on a consumer preview. Do everyone a favor next time, don't use the consumer preview. You are not the type of person who is supposed to use it.

If you look for a good deal, you can usually find decent 240/256GB SSDs for about $0.55-$0.65/GB which is well under $200. The top tier MLC SSDs can be had for under $200 (Intel, Samsung).

Reiterating here that the OP (Liszewski) obviously doesn't know much about what the state of computers was in 1982. Also, AT&T is one of the pioneering companies (if not THE) in computer software. So please watch who you disrespect. I'm not even of that era, and I know.

I'd rather pay less for an ugly washing machine that works just as well and is cheaper to manufacture, ship, and maintain.

lol, i'm not an Apple hater, but I am in the tech industry. The "Lightning" port is just a USB port with a proprietary connector. That's really probably it. There is no reason to have a chip residing on the cable to provide that functionality. If so, the engineers at Apple would be seriously dumb, which they are not.

flamebait. The iPhone has a huge design flaw in that it is uncomfortable to use as a phone. The edges are uncomfortable on the hands when texting, and calling. Also, the antenna on mine is much weaker without a bumper. Get over it. It's a design flaw. It looks good, but it doesn't function well.

Projects like this have been around for a while.

As long as the airplane is made a roaming zone that costs an extra $0.50/minute, I'm fine with it. If you have to make a call, make it. If not, read a book.

"Do your own research!"

Briggs & Riley? Not many bags come with lifetime warranties anymore.

Honestly? 50-60 years? I've bought some nice luggage due to my frequent traveling but I don't see any of it lasting more than 15 years tops. I suppose it really depends on how much you travel, though.

If he's not, his employer is breaking the law. He's either a contractor (in which case he makes more money than his salaried counterparts anyway) or an hourly employee.

There's a good chance it might even be just newer or more empty flash memory in the iPhone 5 relative to the 4S.
