Actually, I have Windows 81. on my Surface Pro and it's not my cup of tea so your assumption is incorrect.

Considering Microsoft has resorted to giving away Windows 8.1 (to many OEM markets) because no one wanted it (as seen in the previous links I provided), there currently aren't any substantial sources to show sales figures at this time.
