I honestly see that market already existing with current boutique PC manufacturers. Hell, even Razer is getting in on the "Just build me a PC" action and is branding pre-built PCs. I don't see a modified Linux-distro enabled PC catering to that market. Especially if they're asking consumers to crack open the case to

So what is making a Steam Box stand out over a pre-built PC I can already purchase elsewhere? What would make a non-hardcore PC do-it-yourselfer that likes PC games buy this over say, an Alienware, Falcon Northwest, VoodooPC or Asus Republic of Gamers PC instead?

You're arguing in circles.

It comes with SteamOS pre-installed. If you want to run another OS, you need to manually install it. That's a barrier to entry for the majority of console gamers just looking to turn on the machine and play games.

It's also bloody intimidating to the unwashed masses.

Why would anyone want to buy a handicapped PC that runs Linux when they could get a Windows PC (see: compatible with their entire games library) for, what''s looking like, the same price-range? Are customers buying the OS and peripheral? Is that where the Steam branding comes into play?

My PC is hooked up in my living room. It's connected to my TV via an HDMI cable and is in a micro-ITX form-factor so it fits nicely beside my consoles.

So... he's not seeing anything worth playing on them at the moment either?

So it's really nothing more than a boutique PC with a fancy new peripheral and some software that you can run on other PCs?

I'm not refusing anything; I'm generally curious.

I'd be curious to see just what exactly this offers me that I don't already get from my PC.

Yeah, jewelry is bloody useless.

That's an awesome dad and a lucky son. :D

That really sucks. Hopefully James and co. can find another avenue for broadcasting their videos when Youtube inevitably implodes.

We're witnessing the death of a service via short-sighted businessmen. It's akin to what is destroying the gaming industry (just at an accelerated rate).

I'd rather just sue for a refund. That's all I'd like from EA/DICE. This game has more bugs than a roach motel on the PS4 and has been unplayable to the point where I'd lose all progress in the single player campaign and the weapon unlocks.

Now playing

I still prefer to the original trailer back when it was known as "The Dark Project." Deadly Shadows was HUGE misstep for the series and I'm not entirely convinced this will be the saviour/revival of the once great pioneer in first-person sneaking games.

He knocked up a girl at 15. We're not dealing with someone that's made a lot of good decisions in his life or has been held accountable for them. How's that saying go? "A fool and his money shall soon be parted."

I'm sure glad there are watchdogs out there looking out for how women are depicted in media because men are never poorly portrayed in hurtful, hateful ways at all.

I don't equate all men as rapists.
