You can pull the fuse to disable CAGS, but you’ll get a permanently-on warning light. If you use the kit, CAGS is disabled and the warning light goes away.
There was an entire thread on one of the Corvette Forums about “How to close the doors without leaving fingerprints”, and someone made a video about it. I just laughed.
Honestly, there’s an (inaccurate, unfair) stereotype associated with every type of car. It’s true of Corvettes, but it’s also true of Porsches (rich snobs), BMWs (yuppie jerks), Mustangs (guys who crash at Cars & Coffee), Miatas (hairdressers), Priuses (self-righteous treehuggers), minivans (boring people with kids),…
/me is 51. Previously drove a BMW Z4 Coupe. Cross-shopped the C7 Corvette against the base 981 Cayman and the M2. The Cayman was too slow, and had too little low-end torque. The M2 was nowhere to be found on dealer lots.
I have a 2016 C7 Z51 that’s my daily driver and my only car. I live in Boston. I drive it all year, including the winter (with Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4s).
You can find a reasonable balance.
