As soon as somebody starts deploying 10 minute chargers, all the Tesla stuff will be obsolete. A row of six chargers isn’t something you can rely on once there are large numbers of Teslas on the road. A supercharger you might have to wait in line two hours for is one that might as well not exist.

That comparison is really interesting. I’m particularly impressed by the specific torque—which is much harder to maximize on an NA engine. You can always open up the breathing and beef up the valvetrain and rev for more horsepower, but good specific torque means that your combustion is really efficient.

I actually worked with one of the engineers who was involved with the Quad4 program, unfortunately he died a few years ago. Was a really smart guy, he loved talking about how fun and interesting the Quad4 project was at the time.

That’d be impossible if the horsepower tripled (Unless the redline somehow tripled, which seems even less likely). If peak horsepower tripled, so too did the peak torque. And again, that rear crank is going to have a substantially higher stress applied to its rear as a result.

Rich people, who before bought Benzes and Bimmers, bought Model Ses to ‘one-up’ the neighbors.  As soon as MB and BMW start selling luxury/performance electric cars they will return to the fold.

With all the EVs coming from major manufacturers like Honda, VW, Volvo, GM, Hyundai, Kia, Toyota, Jaguar, Audi, Porsche, etc., Tesla is starting to have less and less of a unique selling point.

The problem is illegally entering on the red. If you stop on the yellow you cannot enter on red. If you don’t you are gambling; though how most justify it is assuming that cross traffic can’t enter on the green, even if the thru driver does enter on red. Which is not always true.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that friend is not intelligent.

Of course, it’s not 100% effective for all situations and all drivers...  Sometimes even multiple waves of flashing  yellow won’t dissuade a committed box truck driver.
