I’m guessing it has to do with tire speed ratings. If they do that, then they can equip their cars with tires only with an S-rating... which are a bit cheaper than tires with higher speed ratings.

I’ve read about that more than a few times but I didn’t feel like finding any sources.

My completely based on what makes the news about fatal accidents is that there seem to be three causes:

I remember seeing something once that indicated drivers going below the flow of traffic are a greater hazard than those going above the flow. I’ll see if I can find it...

This is part of Volvo’s aim to eliminate all fatalities in its cars by 2020

Volvo even says it’s considering using “smart speed control and geofencing” to force cars to slow down in school zones and near hospitals.

The valid reasons are simple.

This is dumb and I have no problem calling it out as such. And not because I think cars should be able to drive faster than 112. 112 mph is still far above the speed limits of most countries and a crash at that speed is almost surely going to be fatal. But I think if you look at all the vehicle fatalities around the

That’s still about twice the top speed of average volvo drivers.

This is the type of attitude that scares me from car makers... I interpret it as:

“We don’t trust you to handle what we sell you. We insist on controlling you.”

If they would have said they were limiting it to 112 like some of my old cars did in the 80s because “This car just isn’t designed to go that fast”, I’d be like

I’m so conflicted about this.

Thank you. I’ll accept “legit” over “fraudulent” anyday. :)

don’t worry, Lada used cardboard for the firewall, but the crankshaft is forged.  or forked. my Russian isn’t that good.

Is there one in a museum somewhere? Drive the rest of them.

It’s above $150K with 3 days to go. It’s pristine nearly as-new condition represents too much of its value for it to see a lot of use, except for someone with both enough money and the mindset to not care about preserving its mint status.

Well put!!!!!!!!

My first car was a Fiat Cinquecento. It was - by a long margin - the worst car I have ever owned. *This* Cinquecento is fun only because every mechanical part has been replaced by something that is Japanese (or is, in some other way, competently engineered) and because racecars don’t need interior trim or a functional

TBH, I’m swithering between either the gearbox or the clutch being lunched first, but it's an interesting empirical question.

I’m curious at what point the rear crankshaft will simply snap.

When Incineroar leaked long before Sun and Moon came out (along with Decidueye and Primarina) people assumed based on it’s look that it was going to be another Fire/Fighting starter. When it turned out to be Fire/Dark people were psyched.
