My condolences. That had to be depressing.

My tank is literally the same size as a jug of milk (3.7L). By the time I was getting “low” on a tank, the bike was effectively running on a thimble filled with the vague memory of gasoline.
I’m sure you can seek out academic papers or research studies if you’re that interested. I’m not passionate enough to do that myself, I just trust that when every car manufacturer, aircraft manufacturer and military comes to the same conclusion, they’ve probably got a scientific basis for saying that.
I used to make fun of remote start as pointless before I did time in Saskatchewan. Makes perfect sense now, great feature. =P

Cheapness, were I to hazard a guess, with perhaps a side of “space constraints”. If a tool dies in a few years time, who cares: It’ll get replaced. If a car dies within just a few years, that’s a big damn problem.
Woah, you can’t discharge the batteries like that! Now get back to driving by discharging the batteries.
“He was totally justified in doing that!”
As a Red Seal mechanic, I’ll say: Listen to Jalopnik here. The chances of you damaging you windshield wipers pointing up? Slim to none. The chances of you damaging them from having them frozen to the glass? Probable.
Yeah. We have a lizard at home who, due to their cold-blooded nature, obviously requires outside heat to survive. Any time it looks like there might be a power outage I start pouring hot water, microwaving heat packs and digging out the box of exothermic pouches.
If we’re honestly suggesting that there’s no way someone could’ve predicted that they would run out of food at >11:00PM, there’s still gas stations and corner stores that also sell food. Again, an incredibly niche case that only pops up due to long-term poor planning is hardly essential.
They’ve been updated.
Oh good. A fucking slide show.
What a weird world we live in. Pizza is essential...
I don’t think it would survive. Remember, a transfer case with low range means there’ll be some utterly ridiculous amounts of torque on it (Especially on a truck that weighs way more than the CTS-V, and may get a wheel held when offroad). It’d be way more than you’d see on first gear on the CTS-V. Hence, unique…
We wouldn’t have the driveshaft either (Remember, the Escalade has a transfer case and a wildly different wheelbase, it would require a unique driveshaft). I guess that is true about the diffs (Could just flip the one at the front) and transmission though.
Name checks out.
I’m not sure what the travel was like on the CTS-V, but I really doubt the CV shafts would accept as much travel as you’d get on something like an Escalade.
I can honestly say that almost never happened with me, and I worked construction for years. I think once I needed an emergency piece of Lexan, but that was it. Everything else I needed, I just gave the local suppliers notice ahead of time and they had it brought in for me.
Again, whether the money is justified or not means literally nothing to me: There’s money trading hands, which means the driver’s are clearly necessary to that business. Pay them the legal minimum, end of discussion. If Uber/Lyft shutter from an unsustainable business model then so-be-it.
