Right. All of these drag spec only cars run old but bulletproof transmissions. Ford has the C6, Chrysler has a race spec torqueflight 727. They are able to handle massive power because they were overbuilt from the factory, and the aftermarket has even more upgrades. 

I really don’t see how a Countach would work with a modern car. With mandatory back up cameras, how can you back one up properly?

3 speed autos are not a “track day” thing- just drag racing. They still make 2 and 3 speed autos for racing. For drag racing, there’s not much need for a lot of gears. No need for cruising gear, and your top gear only needs to be tall enough to hit your trap speed before the motor redlines.

For all the work you'd have to do, it might be easier to make another one from scratch.
