“As always, Billions demands encyclopedic recall of the entire series.”
Yep.
After a year & a half I had zero clue who the caterer could possibly be and why Taylor would possibly be so freaked out by an offered hors d’oeuvre.  I ended up speculating for several minutes that there was some subplot I’d forgotten about a

Psyched that you’re reviewing (in whatever format you decide) this gem!

I definitely identified with that yearning to get out out out, no matter how underdefined or mythologized the destination. But I was glad to see the show didn’t hide from the consequences of the Rez Dogs’ cannibalizing their grubstake from their

gotcha I see that now, thanks!

Since they made a point of establishing that her client/worshipper was CEO of a *tech* company, I figured the problems she had subsuming him was some sort of new angle by the New Gods in the thus-far-unsuccessful effort to convert Bilquis to their side

Wasn’t Aidy in the musical as Elsa from Frozen? (but true, didn’t see Cecily)

Good goddam Dr Mantis, how did you manage to teleport so much dust into my living room just now?!?

I’m starting to come to the horrific realization that Jim Brockmire might be my spirit animal...

minus his right ear, I guess
(seriously, that’s the only battle damage Ghost took?)

You’re absolutely correct, which is one of the major reasons the show is compelling (and would also make these characters fun to play). There’s a great quote out there that I can’t recall exactly, something along the lines of the best villains beingthe heroes of their own stories” or “heroes in their own minds”

Like Scott said (last week maybe?) seems like every single character on this show is a very terrible not good person, so it was a nice change of pace to see one of our leads suffer an actual human-ish personal reaction to some of their own nefarious actions.

My theory is this: actors always say that it’s simply more

At a certain point you lose all sympathy for their willfully selfish ignorance (ignorant selfishness?) and just gotta (to quote Larry Niven I believe) “Think of it as evolution in action”.
The problem being, how many of the rest of us are they going to take down before they manage to remove themselves from the gene

Danette -just wanted to thank you for continuing these recaps. I don’t often have much to add to the discussion, but I always come here immediately after watching, and I always enjoy reading your thoughts & analysis of one of my favorite shows out there.

aaaand now I want to put on my vintage pinstriped suit, dig up my old spectator wingtips, and wear them over hot pink socks that _perfectly_ match a hot pink shirt
[sound of French chef kissing own fingertips]

Random take of zero import or significance: Maggie Siff has never seen “Heat”. Presented as evidence: she referred to Waingro as “Wayne Gro”.
(at least to my ear)

“since Chester had victimized Shab Nam’s parents, they could’ve called in Assassins Guild professionals
Agreed with this. Also, doesn’t Chester give Maria & Marcus an out as far as Diablo? If the Assassins Guild discovers the dude has Chico’s head in the fridge, wouldn’t the easy blame fall on Chester?

my prediction for Willie (I have not read the comics) is that they’ll open season 2 with him saving Marcus/Maria/Lex from Diablo & his goons. I have no idea how he would actually accomplish that, but kinda feels right to me

“_Ni_kolaj.

file this as: “Probably A Coincidence But It Feels Like The Universe Is Telling Me Something” - it’s now Sunday nite & I just finished bingeing Crashing (the BBC one). Point being, don’t try to _just_ fart on someone else...

Chaka Khan? Chaka Khan! Chaka Khan, Chaka Kahn, Chaka Khan...”
Not technically a music cue, & not exactly subtle, but freakin’ sweet nonetheless!
Also, as much as I love me some Lemmy, the Ace of Spades + the t-shirt was a bit too on-the-nose for me

Although this season’s depictions of violence are no more explicit or over-the-top than last year’s, it struck me that somehow they are more gratuitous. More fan- and reputation- service, and less a stylistic choice.
Last season the gore actually matched the action. For example, Laura was saving Shadow from a
