I wonder if Steven is a younger writer who doesn’t know what tech from before his time was capable of. Sorta like all those conspiracy theorists who think bronze-age masons couldn’t have built stuff without modern machinery.

Mewgenics isn't dead? I swear the first trailer came out like 15 years ago
I’m gonna say play the original first but I can't tell you why.
Always has been
I was mainly thinking of the PS5, but also remembered the XSX being a bit bigger than it is.
The two big platform-holders want their machine to be the main/only box in the living room. The pass through was less about cable in and of itself I think, and more about the general notion that everything happens through the XBox.
I’m not saying the other companies aren’t looking heavily into sorts of changes that would be largely unfriendly to consumers, and are similarly guilty, but MS’s diligence in those aspects has had its drawbacks.
That’s because it was never about convenience or sharing games, it was about either eliminating or making money off the secondary market. If publishers and platform holders had their way we wouldn’t be able to share, give away or sell games at all, or play offline, or play out of print/unlisted games. That’s why…
“It combined a console, streaming device, and Blu-Ray player into the original all-in-one media player. But like Marty McFly rocking out to “Johnny B Goode” in Back to the Future, people weren’t quite ready for that. Yet.”
“the particular issue is so similiar between different developers that seems like a pattern”
So now AVClub posts are getting reposted instead of cross-linked?
They look like they were a bit squashed in the packet maybe
Looks like sausages to me.
The sale price we saw a couple of times this year was pretty tempting, I wish they’d drop to that permanently instead of teasing people’s FOMO.
Have you looked at replacement plates? They help a bit.
idk the ins and out of the US economy (assuming you’re posting from America); but in at least a few places inflation’s been chasing the price of food and fuel due to the war in Ukraine, not wages, which have been stagnating below inflation for years.
edit: replied to wrong comment
It’s kind of a piss-take though when they ALREADY HAVE inhouse emulators. When the work’s half-done already and it’d add value to the platform - and a big bullet point that MS wouldn’t have over them - it kinda feels like the only reason it’s not on there is because they specifically don’t want to do it.
There’s a lot of independent, self-published games if you know where to look. The barrier to entry is so low these days that any hobbyist can put out something weird and occasionally wonderful.
