Often times this right to a director’s cut is limited to a single, contractually obligated screening, after which all bets are off. This is how RKO burned Orson Welles with The Magnificent Ambersons. When Welles made Citizen Kane, he had the right to Final Cut. The film had to be released with approval, or not at all.

The Magdalene laundries.  Whatever the intent was when in the beginning, it certainly developed a “culture” within that locale.  The internal groupthink in the organization must have been something to behold for it to go on as cruelly as it did.

Her dating history gets a second look because she writes songs about the people she’s dated. It’s not just part of her personal life, it’s part of her artistic output.

Yes, the idea that Tina Fey - of all people - was a woman who didn’t support or help other women is ridiculous... learn to take a joke Taylor - especially when you yourself built a substantial part of your career on singing about ex-boyfriends.

Croupier is much more Owen’s alley than James Bond. He would have actually made a miserable 007, with even more sadness and exhaustion than Craig, without the lightness that Craig could also bring to the part. But sadness and exhaustion were precisely what was needed for Children of Men.

I personally would not have dragged Nolan like that, the forum was inappropriate. I think it was kind of tacky of her to do that in front of a bunch of people.

He and Sissy are magnetic in In The Bedroom, but I so enjoy his character arc in Shakespeare In Love, from oligarch-esque to “everyone be quite, art is happening!”

The remarkable thing about his performances is that you can easily recall them just from looking at the film title.

Every scene with him and Sissy Spacek in In the Bedroom was an acting masterclass on the screen. Still think that’s one of the best movies of the 2000s.

Emma, you write that whole thing and couldn’t fit 998 anywhere? PLEASE READ AND SHARE WITH YOUR COWORKERS: https://reportingonsuicide.org/

Thank you for including something the article should have included.

South Korean ex-pats living in the USA have the most nuanced take on this, and if you want to see it, I recommend looking through the pop culture subreddits.

I watched the whole thing (maybe 15 minutes in total) on uTube yesterday... a few seconds before Pugh, a tightly wrapped up t-shirt was thrown onstage as well, it didn’t hit anyone, but Zendaya picked it up, signed it, and gave it back. The only difference was this didn’t actually hit her, so that a few seconds later

No one has disrespected FlorPugh like this since Olivia Wilde

Surely you can’t be serious.

I love A Good Year as well, and am not sure why it gets such flack. It’s certainly not as ambitious as some of these other films, and I wonder if that’s the problem- people don’t know how to accept Ridley Scott basically making a rom-com.

Just going by that header pic alone, if that Jacob dude on the far left is subtly trying to audition for the next James Bond, I’d be pretty ok with that.

Damn, This is an impressive list, even with the misses. The top five are each from a different decade. Legend is my favorite fantasy movie, no offense to the Lord of the Ring films.  It just has a magical quality. It feels like a peek into a deeper world.
