Which is incredibly ironic, considering the title of Nolan’s next film is Wheelies On A Dirt Bike During Phaser Battles.

i think I need this explained to me.

The most common complaint I hear about Tenet is that the audio mix sucks. I’m not sure if the theaters screwed it up, or people’s home setup is somehow weird, but the dialogue has always been pretty clean when I’ve seen the movie, both in the original theater release, and on my home setup.

I loved the first two acts, but the third act completely put me off because it just felt like an endless “Look how good I am at shooting the chaos of war” showreel from Nolan, with an over-long battle sequence that felt utterly lacking in tension or stakes because you had no real concept of who they were fighting

Yeah, that’s a pretty good point... In a world where Star Trek movies are now about Kirk doing wheelies on a dirt bike during phaser battles, it's nice that at least someone is taking the effort to make scifi that you have to say least try and pay attention to

To be fair, he hasn't filmed it yet.

It is an interesting bit of nuance that not everyone outside the industry quite gets. For as annoying as they can be, studio execs have traditionally been a mix of pure business bros and film/TV enthusiasts who happened to be good at or educated in business matters. And the mix *tended* to favor the enthusiasts. Yes,

To quote Kate McKinnon playing Debra Hammer in Yesterday (not an endorsement of that movie):

I, too, have jumped off the Nolan train. I used to really like him and some of his movies are my favorites for how fun they are. However, most of the emotional beats in his movies ring hollow to me except for Interstellar, but that probably has more to do with me being a dad and falling for the dad/kid relationship

So, obviously you’re entitled to your opinion, but I think you’re selling both Nolan and Tarantino short.

Tenrt is to this day the only Nolan movie I never saw. (I was too young for Insomnia and stopped paying attention, but I did see it. I should give it another shot some day.)

We need an article listing Tom’s best hair per movie as well, here’s my best pick:

I admit I jumped around in my chair with excitement while watching that...and let the speculation begin on what “minus one” might mean...

He thinks BIG PICTURE for sure. Hard to imagine someone else doing it like him, in quite that way. Genius gets thrown around but... genius.

I feel exactly the same way. I don’t even want to think about his age, I don’t want to think of these next couple of outings as victory laps, but am just glad he’s still at it. Funnily enough, one day we’ll be able to look back and see his ‘big picture’ and realize he was just producing a historical tapestry of it ALL(

Ridley Scott is such a treasure - he’s getting up there in years and I’m going to miss his work when he’s gone. He’s taken some big swings and had some misses, but man. He takes his shot and he’s made some great, great films in his career. Very excited to watch this.

“It doesn’t highlight his most infamous quality: that of being the original short king.”

The first Jack Reacher movie kicked ass, even with as obviously miscast as Cruise was. Shame about the second.
