Ahhh too true. I can’t imagine going back to a video-game world where you can’t literally save on the very spot you stand and restart right there immediately if/when you die. Have we become spoiled, or is that how games should have always been?

Mine arrived in the mail today. Did I pay a couple hundred extra for a GameStop bundle that came with 2 (3 technically) games and a 2nd controller and a $20 GameStop gift card (wowie!)? Sure. They got me. Whatever. NOW I’M READY FOR RE8 BABY!!!
As I said in a previous article, Horizon Zero Dawn was my “Quarantine Game” that I literally just started a year ago (and finished much later, I think 60-70 hours later, over the course of many weeks). Perfect game for it really. Anyone who never got to experience it yet, well, it’s gonna be free, so.... do it.
Primary Colors through V was a hell of a run, some of the best music of the past decade+. Not sure what these 3 songs are. An outlier, hopefully. Please.
After dismissing it in all its forms for years, last March my friend finally convinced me to give Call of Duty (specifically Warzone) a shot. I’d likely NEVER have played it, barring a pandemic, and nothing short of a pandemic. It was a good way to “hang out” daily (and we did play almost every day...and still are!)…
Just play Resurgence while it’s still around. I ran into some cheating (I think...?) in Verdansk, but never on Rebirth Island. I’m not good at all (0.57kd) but I’m still able to have fun and rack up over 60 wins on Resurgence. And the games are faster and more action-y. Gonna cry if/when they remove it!
While both games felt quite a bit different, one key element was consistent in both: perpetual dread. I never felt safe in any chapter of either game, and was constantly going back to save points like a little baby. I remember one particular section in the first game, after you save it and go back to the danger, a…
I grew up playing Resident Evil games (got my PS1 in 1997 with Crash Bandicoot, Tomb Raider, and of course RE) so I’m always shocked that to see fellow hardcore RE fans dismissive of TEW games. And since it’s not nearly as popular as RE, evidently that’s a lot of them! Wish I knew why. Both TEW games are better than…
If the game hadn’t been made by the same man who started the genre and defined the genre, maybe this game would have gotten the love and appreciation it DESERVES. Expectations were sky high I guess? I dunno. It’s one of my all-time faves (sequel too) and I love everything about it. The atmosphere, the sound effects,…
Slowly working my way through Little Nightmares 2 after quitting Oddworld New N Tasty out of frustration (I’ll get back to it again....someday).
Just finished that recently. I liked it well enough, solid B+, but it could have used a few more Uncharted-esque set pieces. It had a few, and they were great, but I was expecting just 1 or 2 more. And the ones that exist could have been just a taaaad longer, to really get the adrenaline pumpin’.
Ha yeah I’ve kept my eye on this since at least late 2017, randomly checked again the other day and it was 75% off. I’ll probably re-download it again one day and try again, it was just so unexpectedly frustrating when I was trying to have a good time!
After years at $19.99 it finally dropped to like $5 bucks recently so I bought the download. I’m old enough to have played the original when it first came out, beat it (not 100%), loved it, so I was very much looking forward to this.
“perfectly pixellated versions of Donatello and his lesser brothers”
Stupid dragon? Grim Matchstick is one of my favorite boss battles in that game! And a walk in the park compared to Dr. Kahl’s Robot, which I also love/hate.
Becoming Bowser was a great moment. I wish the whooshing of all the past Mario game Bowser encounters wasn’t so fast though, I wanted a better look at all that awesomeness.
Wait I got more:
Oh and the Valkyrie Queen from God of War 2018. Similar to the Hollow Knight challenges, she kicked my ass, a lot. I went back to the fog realm to collect more shit just to fully upgrade all my armor and weapons to the max to beat her, and I finally did, and it was extremely satisfying. I consider her the true final…
Nightmare King Grimm from Hollow Knight had to be the most satisfying fight for me. Well, not the battle itself, but when I realized I had FINALLY defeated him (after, oh, who knows, 70+ attempts!) and stood up and cheered and walked out of the room. Also, not a boss fight, but the Path of Pain (from Hollow Knight too…
Who else cried at the ending to Will of the Wisps? :,(
