As silly as the car seems, if I lived in a city, and could actually get one at a reasonable price, I would daily it. The iQ was underpowered, but actually quite fun to drive. Took one on a go kart track and it was pretty hilarious. Saw this clean Cygnet in Paris a couple of years ago. The interior is pretty sweet.

I can confirm. I had a ‘72 FF1 in high school. My buddy yanked the hand brake while we were doing about 75 on the highway. Little bastard damn near flipped on its roof.

Nailed it.

Just a small point. The proper term is “Head Up Display”. Not Heads Up.

I was fortunate to attend last year. The entire experience is without equal. The Driver’s Parade through the town is an amazing spectacle as two hundred thousand people line the historic streets while the drivers ride in vintage cars or walk the gauntlet handing out hero cards and mementos. Throughout the venue,

Raph, small correction. Both of these deaths happened on Saturday during the opening day of the TT.

My first car was a ‘72 FF1. With the boxer engine and inboard brakes, it handled great. But, build quality made a contemporary Beetle seem like a Mercedes.

Agreed. And Kris actually drives it. Here he is on track at Monticello Motor Club.

2006 Cayman GTR built by Farnbacher Loles. 411HP 3.8L X51, LSD, JRZ suspension, PCCBs, headers, exhaust, GT3 seats, 5-point harnesses, short-throw shifter, Fikse wheels, 997 front clip, carbon fiber side intakes, etc. Damn near perfect. If you don’t believe me, ask Matt Farah. He drove it, too.

Skip Barber is awesome, indeed. The guy is much more than a living legend who is responsible for leading a ton of us down the racing road. He’s also a good guy, smart and witty, and he’s been a great steward of Lime Rock Park as its owner. Plus, he has serious taste in road cars, one of which can be seen above.

That's not Larry's garage. It's SpeedSport Tuning in Danbury, CT who did the work on the car. SpeedSport is a very busy Porsche performance and repair facility. A working shop, not a detailing bay. Although their engine room is pretty sterile...

And the FVD exhaust not only looks good, it sounds perfect on that car.

At speed, lift-throttle oversteer will also bring the arse around.

TMZ refers to this as "an accident" while Jalopnik rightly calls it "a crash." If a meteor landed on them, it would be an accident. A sad, senseless end to two lives, nonetheless.

The 2.5 liter Duratec was actually a V-6. Great engine. I had a 2000 SVT Contour with that engine putting out 200 HP and it loved to rev. Mine saw considerable track time at Lime Rock and never missed a beat.

Unfortunately Torch, there are too few of us on this side of the Atlantic who would appreciate the shooting brake. So unless they lock the bean counters in a vault, I have little hope. But, the Coupe is so gorgeous on its own, I'll survive.

I suppose when you are used to meteors falling out of the sky, and cows tumbling out of trailers, a dip in the river is nothing to get excited about. Either that or the cup holders are filled with bottles of Stoli.

I actually saw the original Vanishing Point in the theater when I was a kid (They didn't really enforce the under 17 rules back then). Now that I look back, having seen this film at a young impressionable age, probably explains a lot of how my life turned out.
