It’s more than an internet bubble, as many people I know IRL who don’t follow gaming websites and spend a lot of time online are just as annoyed with Bungie/Destiny.

My guess is that Nathan Fillion didn’t want to be associated with Destiny anymore after his contract ran out given all the negativity surrounding him, so they off’d Cayde as a logical plot hook.

Thing is, getting rid of one of the few worthwhile NPCs with as much background in Bungie isn’t going to pull back the people…
