Were you replying to my comment? I agree of course. This whole thread is nonsense about a stupid joke. I only initially commented to point out how ridiculous the “he should have just said it was a joke” argument is.
I didn’t say that people don’t have the right to criticize. You’re overlooking the part where the joke carried no actual offense. The onus of responsibility for being offended falls on the person getting unreasonably upset about an inocuous joke told on a joke-telling show.
It was delivered on SNL’s Weekend Update. What else would it have been? This is why comedians stopped doing stand-up acts on college campuses. A comedian shouldn’t have to qualify and apologize for every joke that is subjectively offensive.
Identity politics is not the same thing as equal rights.
