So you spend the entire article telling us the multitude of ways the show fails in every aspect of it’s presentation, admit that it was universally hated by people on both sides of the culture war, (One of the few pieces of content they DO agree on), and yet still feed us the same old tired, “Unjustified condemnation

He doesn’t physically appear in the film, with just his voice being heard over a phone in the low-budget thriller, which means it’s a part that anyone could’ve played

Elizabeth II had a much softer face and a charming smile. I love Staunton but she makes a much more natural Dolores Umbridge than she does an Elizabeth Windsor.

It was offensive, in the right way. The line ‘when it’s black it’s a gang, and when it’s italians, it’s the mob, and when it’s jews, it’s a coincidence’ is brilliant in it’s structure. That’s not saying you have to agree OR be offended. But he couches it in counterexamples that puts the critic in the position of

The Big Brunch nixes the most annoying parts of TV cooking competitions

The fall of 2016 will go down in history as the dawn of a Black TV renaissance.

Also, Sonoya Mizuno is a terrific actor (just ignore that horrendous accent the show has handed her)

Mysaria’s accent is awful. Sounds like Adrien Brody doing that Jamaican (?) accent on SNL.

The episode ends with Rhaenys killing dozens of innocent people

I don’t know if that is really feasible - the proper timeline is what, almost 2000 years long? The forging of the rings alone takes like 90 years. Certain characters, like all the Numenorans and likely the Harfoots, would barely be a part of the show if they did that.

Oh jeez I missed that one. Probably because there was such a wealth of wtf in this review (like there always is).

Jenna also describes Qarl and Laenor as faking his death on their own,

I don’t know that he’d use Corly’s brother for that, since it would only raise a shitload of further questions when everyone figures out he’s missing too.  Although it would have to be someone whose lower body was a close enough match, so maybe.

Different reviewer of same abysmal show on same/worse abysmal site by worse writer...we are through the looking glass here people

This writer is TERRRRRIBLE at the “attention-paying” aspects of her job.

I thought the idea was that Laena would be toast but the baby would survive, Unburnt, like Dany did. Figured that was a thing Targaryens could do. But then, no sign of the baby this episode.

I mean, Jenna also describes Qarl and Laenor as faking his death on their own, when it was clear that all four parties were in on it since we see Daemon killing the guy they used as the burnt body and Rhaenyra explicitly says that everyone will think they were behind the murder and she’s okay with people fearing what

Basic physics? Snapping the arrow like that’s going to move the shaft in the process.

It just wouldn’t be an AV Club HOTD review if the reviewer didn’t get something about the episode fundamentally wrong. She’s like “but why would Laena do this?” Because she wasn’t going to survive the birth or the procedure so she went out to the beach for her dragonrider’s death, it’s not complicated. But this author
