Some folks would prefer the constant angst and semi-evilness to the short but acute jab of pain that is honesty.

Um, you stop leading her on.

Some very old white dude picked it out and thought it would be funny. Thanks, old white dude.

Mentally making *schwing* sound of a knife being withdrawn from its sheath....

Amen. I really had expected an explanation for why Shibas are pretty tough pups to live with (or, ya know, most spitz breeds really). I grew up with a bunch husky and malamute rescues - these are just not entry level dogs. They were bred for endurance and have unbelievably high energy, are usually extremely willful

Oh, look at that, the law firm's website has a "live chat" option....hmmm....

HOLY SHIT, that's offensive.

Is 48 seconds really long enough to hold off the poachers though? Now I'm going to be worried about the elephants!

For me, I prefer Buddhist practice because it doesn't force me to believe things I can't verify for myself — it's a process of investigation. However, I have had to explain this to members of my staunchly Unitarian Universalist, atheistic family and it's much simpler to call it a philosophy than a religion. A lot of

Kabat-Zinn is a Buddhist (dharma) practitioner who developed MBSR as a secularized form of

Good reporting and all, but the whole time I was like, "So ... Pat Muff ..." because I'm immature.

It's not all bad. At least I get to realize how much I'm actually not as boring as I think! :-P

Doctors have tremendous power over their patients, but psychiatrists (or MDs other than psychiatrists providing psychiatric/psychological care) have perhaps the most. The phenomenon of transference comes up by far the most in psychiatry, and because while other doctors help treat your body, these doctors help heal

That's Mindfulness (Vipassana) Meditation. You don't need a quiet place, either. Sound is another thing to let go of, or to focus on. Mindfulness Meditation is useful practice for mindfulness during daily activities.

Thanks for what you're doing all over this post. I agree that she maybe has some blame... but, like, maybe 20 percent? Not enough to be debating "well enough about the doctor who clearly violated ethics, let's talk about the victim and how much blame to assign to her, instead."
