Canter’s is ok. Famous mostly because it was 24/7 and in Hollywood area. IMHO Langer’s is the best deli in LA. But they close around 3pm and are located on the border of Ktown in a mostly South American neighborhood. But don’t skip on their pastrami if you’re visiting LA.

So I feel like it’s very similar to Trader Joe’s Carolina Gold BBQ sauce. McD’s is more mustardy and less sweet than TJs, but it’s close enough that a little mixing at home can probably get it closer.

I think they’re bigger comparable shop is Which Wich, even though Quizno’s was the pioneer of the space. Since they both do the toasting subs on a conveyor belt thing. And it does come out much better than from the convection oven.

So far, I have yet to find as good of a tortilla that wasn’t hand made at the taqueria. It’s just different. The good thing is that there’s a trend for taco trucks to be using hand made tortillas.

Every time you guys mention it makes me think McD’s Hot Mustard is gone. When it’s readily available where I am. But I do feel you if it’s missing in your area.

I have some friends that love Cracker Barrel. But I’ve been, and it’s just country kitsch Denny’s to me. Yeah, they have biscuits and gravy and chicken fried steak. But they’re still at Denny’s quality. It’s not necessarily bad. It’s just there.

I cannot agree more on the first 3. People think of it as butter croissants and cheese pizza as plain, but if the place can’t get the fundamentals right, then the rest of their products are probably lackluster but covered up by adding a bunch of stuff.

My go-to test has become hand made tortillas on site. But then I go lengua as my basic, even though it should be carne asada. I’ll try other meats depending on what kind of taco place it is.

I bought donut breakfast sandwiches (split glazed donut, sausage or bacon, cheese, egg, and hash brown). Besides that it’s a bit overly rich, even though I like big heavy breakfast, everyone in my office loved it (20 some odd people). I think I had the lowest opinion of it and I think it’s pretty good.

Exactly. The Impossible Whopper, when Carl’s Jr. used Beyond sausage in their breakfast biscuits, etc... are all so covered with stuff, that you barely notice the change. It’s slightly healthier eating, not for getting vegans back to McD’s. Wish they would go back to beef tallow for the fries though.
