My ex is black and I made the conscious decision to drive if we were ever headed to campus through Martinsville after dark for this very reason. I'm honestly surprised we never got pulled over to be questioned if I was there against my will or something.

When I was at IU, I once had an FBDB yell out his window in broad daylight, “You wanna get raped tonight?!” The frat culture in B-Town is the worst. I went to a small school my freshman year where 50% of the students pledged and the culture was very different.

I worked at the Papa John’s in Bloomington. The Martinsville location was in our franchise and my black manager refused to work there at night because Martinsville is basically stuck in the 1960's when it comes to race relations.

Not a Hoosier but I spent 6 years in exile in Martinsville in the late 90's. Coming from Seattle, so total culture shock.

as an IU grad I an saddened but not surprised by this. How many times was there a report of sexual assault on North Jordan. How many times has a fraternity been involved in shitty behavior? What is it going to take for IU to really do something about the problems with the fraternities at IU?

That townie doesn’t sound like Bloomington material. Perhaps they would feel more comfortable in Martinsville or Bedford.
