I don't follow any critic without a reputation, which are those ones you mentioned.

That's what made Roger Ebert such a great reviewer: he would always watch a movie understanding perfectly well its purpose and its target audience and that's how it would rate it. The 40 Year Old Virgin is an excellent comedy but you can't compare it to something like The Godfather. They are wildly different projects

More fun than Ghostbusters?

Also, when we are being constantly pounded by news and gossips and whatever the fuck Jared Leto was doing during production and when we have 20 different posters…I expect something better to compensate for all the unstoppable hype.

What I meant is that a fan cannot see something more objectively than others. A crazy Johnny Depp fan will love everything he does and will defend it. So a longtime Suicide Squad or Harley Quinn fan will have a very different experience than the rest of us.

Fandom changes everything. I loved Age of Ultron because I never dreamed I would ever see some of my favourite characters together in a high production like that. I left the theatre feeling like I was 12. And a lot of people dismiss it but it got a great RT rating. I've never been a Suicide Squad fan so I don't think

I can't stand when people are so dismissive of critics. IT'S THEIR JOB. You don't have to agree with them but assuming that you know more about films than them is just dumb. Ever since Roger Ebert passed away I go to The Wrap's Alonso Duralde, who seem to have a similar taste and point of view as mine.

That's the thing: once you can appreciate good filmmaking and understands the difference between a great film, an ok film and a shitty film there's no going back. The music and the visuals cannot dazzle me anymore. Otherwise I would have loved Sucker Punch.

I think it's the type of film I would be "psyched" to watch if I was 21-25 but I'm over 30 and the rock songs and the badass attitude do not impress me. I loved Ant-Man, I adore Guardians of the Galaxy, I liked Age of Ultron way more that I was expecting and I felt absolutely nothing for Batman v Superman except

Baby elephants and cat videos never disappoint

I remember me and 10 of my friends getting crazy high on weed and going to watch Scooby-Doo. Some of us were falling off the chairs from laughing. I think this movie, although clearly better than Scooby-Doo, would require the same pre-party but, sadly, weed does not have the same effect on me.

Oh God, should I watch this thing? I'm incredibly confused. I think Margot is great and she probably should be reason enough to watch it but a 27% RT rating cannot be a good sign. Say what you will about critics but that number is quite low for a blockbuster.

AV Club: you're my favourite, please don't turn into Slate or Jezebel pleeeeeeeeeease

Yeah but way less than on the theatre

I'm not dismissive about it but it's not my own personal battle and it's a battle that won't be won today or tomorrow. If it's yours I wish you good luck.

We're supposed to be mad because apparently there were too many ass shots of her

Yes but if you deconstruct any superhero character too much they will stop being superheroes. Lots of psychological aspects have to be overlooked in order to enjoy superhero comics.

I just don't try to pretend we live in an imaginary world where we are all treated equal and there's no hurt or pain or suffering or inequality. Margot Robbie is more popular because she is a blonde white sexy woman and Harley is more popular than Katana because she was the standout character from the Batman Animated

Did I say it was ok? I'm just saying that not everything is black and white (almost nothing is black and white in this world). I don't think the depiction of Stella is wrong, I think it was, and unfortunately still is, the reality of many women. And both in the play and in the movie it was clear that it wasn't healthy

Yes. That is the real world. The same real world where people die of starvation, where mass murders happen and where slavery still exist. It's not pretty, it can change, but it's the real world.
