Yeah, kinda lame that they had to let his weight and hunger define him. His VA makes him really likable but, yeah, they went for the easy fat guy characterization here.

I noticed another fat character, a kid I think, over by the old folks home. I thought, how refreshing, a little change from all these slim and similar body types... immediately disappointed when I heard the dialogue start up about liking food.
Tifa in the original was fine, but I rarely had her in my party. Tifa in this is an absolute joy to adventure with (although she needs more after battle quips other than needing a shower). Playing as Tifa actually gives the man rapidly swinging a 250lb sword a run for his money. What an absolute badass. Looking…
Wedge and Biggs went from a simple Star Wars reference to fully fleshed out and likeable characters and Jessie went from an after thought to a serious contender in a 20 YEAR (albeit stupid) best girl argument. I got to say this game has done well for itself in fleshing thing out. I am also loving finally getting to…
Because of the, let’s call it “rapidly performed” English translation, the original actually has a bit of goofiness to it that I’m not sure was entirely intentional, but has nevertheless become part of people’s collective memory of the game. I think a little ham suits that memory, even if the translation is better.
Hey guys did you know the fat one likes food? Because I’m pretty sure he likes food. I know because he’s fat and only talks about food.
Saff is too pure and good for this world.

Nah, man. He has every right to be wary about Square-Enix’s lack of transparency. He should hold off until they are more forthcoming about their plans.

He’s not missing out on anything. They fucking butchered the story with this one.

Well first of all, I warned you not to scroll down here! Tons of people in Europe and Australia have been playing the game for over a week and some have even asked me to give them a place on Kotaku to talk about the ending, which is worthy of discussion. So here is that place.
I am simultaneously pleased, and not pleased by this development. I still think it’d be fun to play through a graphical revamped copy of the original game, perhaps one which elaborates on the original game in the way the Remake seemed to do.
With that said, it’d be keen to see if the story could reach a different…
If it was Yoko Taro or even any half-competent director I would have actually been rather excited about the new ending. A proper FF7 remake is cool, but I appreciate a re-imagining even more. That said, does anyone actually believe Nomura can pull this off? I have very little faith in a FF7 sequel unless someone else…
Oh god... the “Remake” in the title is a meta pun... Because the characters are literally *remaking* the plot of FF VII
Nomura is at the helm. It’s going to be incomprehensible garbage.
The obvious answer is that Yozora from Verum Rex from Kingdom Hearts III, who showed up in Shibuya from The World Ends With You and then in the trailer for Final Fantasy Versus XIII in Kingdom Hearts III: Re:Mind, is going to play an integral role in FFVII: Arbitrary Tagline.
Oh shit, so this is veering into Evangelion Rebuild territory?
I suspect the easy mode is for very casual gamers. People who haven’t played a Final Fantasy or even a game in years, but have decided to get this game out of nostalgia.
I appreciate easy/story mode. I’m here to have a good time (that means not doing the same fight over and over), enjoy the story itself, and then move on to the next thing. So in the case of FF7, I’m actually happy to hear this...
It’s intrinsically human but the problem is the commodification and coersion of that facet of humanity.
