I had the same reaction to Monster Hunter until I realized that getting into the game is a lot like staring at multi-page menu at a restaurant you’ve never been to. Initially it’s overwhelming. The game drowns you in information (mechanics), but those mechanics can be picked and chosen from ala carte fashion. Choose

Unironic offer of a hug to John and all the Kotaku staff. You’re all better than this corporate nightmare of an industry will allow you to be and I want you to know that you’re appreciated.

Yeah, this just went into the “wait for the Steam release and a deeper discount” pile for me, like most Epic exclusives.

I think if Nintendo ever caves in an gives PC a shot it’ll be with their own storefront similar to Blizzard, but even that seems like a pipe dream. Mario pun fully intended.

I’m at the “let’s get this over with” stage of Ghost Recon: Breakpoint. Starting off I liked it more than most seemed to, but it definitely suffers from diminishing returns even moreso than the typical Ubisoft fare. Late game missions don’t reward much more than early game missions, and by that time XP is completely

I continue to be disturbed by the lengths some people will go to in order to insist that they’re the hero when society rightly labels them the villain.

Flashbacks to a much younger me asking the clerk at EB Games if they had any copies of Suikoden II. I think he asked me to repeat myself four times, all the while looking at me like I had three heads.

Immortals: Fenyx Rising sounds like something 14-year-old me would have named his Final Fantasy fan fiction complete with self-insert character .

This is why I no longer enjoy comics as long-form storytelling. Every single bit of plot and character development will be undone, redone and then undone again countless times at the whim of the next writer or editor to take on the franchise.

There are fewer things that inspire as much terror in my little gaming heart as the words “restrictive time limits” or “automatically fails if you take a single hit.”

Yeah, this has been my biggest annoyance in the game so far. I really admire the work they put into these podcasts and the content is interesting (not to mention real-world relevant), but as of now there’s just no practical way to listen to them unless you sit in the menu and listen to each minutes-long audio file one

I’m Greek, so if the beard slider doesn’t have a “Jason Mantzoukas” setting, that rules me out.

I think we just all have to accept that this is turning out to be a really good spiritual successor to Divinity Original Sin 2...that just happens to be named Baldur’s Gate 3.

That said though, since it IS ALSO a pretty good adaptation of modern D&D rules, this game is likely what Baldur’s Gate would have been had the

Yeah, every time I start Skyrim I begin with the attitude “Aww, The Empire is subjugating those poor Nords...” and end up with the attitude “...But the Nords are subjugating everyone else, so to heck with them.

Great. Thanks. I kind of like when skill progression is timed to complete just before the ending. In contrast, I felt like I had already unlocked all skills roughly 60% through Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, which sort sucked when I knew I had so much game left but nothing left to unlock.

Deflection or Evasion. You can split the difference, but you’ll only end up missing out on high-level moves for both.”

I played this on 3DS and managed to have fun with it despite the screen size. I would recommend however, maybe not jumping straight from DQ11 to Xenoblade Chronicles. Both are very deep games with big time commitments, so jumping from one to the other is a recipe for burnout. Find a fun, simple palate cleanser to play

But at least Tommy looks even better in a dress, now.

Am I crazy for thinking this would be an absolutely incredible twist? Turns out its not a straight remake after all, but an alternate-universe “what if” scenario. That would be cool as hell.

Why not both? Can a person who’s into contemplative real-world life experiences not also be into peaceful, contemplative games?
