I actually think the difference would be there being 3 very popular movies up for Best Picture (Black Panther, Bohemian Rhapsody, and A Star Is Born). I also wouldn’t say that the slate of winners was predictable at all; compared to previous years it seemed to be possible for Roma, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Green Book to

Yeah, for as bad of a person Joe is, at least I don’t have to hear his poetry.

Glad to see some writing about the show on this site. Not because I think it’s good, but because it’s a level of trash that’s worth discussing. Perhaps the show gets better early on, but I watched a couple episodes last week and found it to fall much harder on the sensationalist side than anything else. Though it

It seems like a big cause of Hollywood’s diversity problem is white male directors’ tendency to mentor other white men. I think these pledges are a step in the right direction but are maybe a little too vague. Imagine what it would mean for a promising young female director (or director of color or both) to have a

I knew of Mr. Rogers growing up but never really watched his show.

It really is the best.

Old article, but still a good question. Some other thoughts:

Great picks, I’m glad someone else mentioned that Sound of Silver Run. North American Scum is a hella fun track, Someone Great is amazing and All My Friends is perhaps my favorite song of all time.

The frontrunner for now is Incredibles 2? Though I like Into the Spider-Verse more, it would at least lose to a pretty good movie.

I really liked it. Would I call it one of my favorites of the year? No. But was it a fun movie with some good gags? Yeah, sure.

Is there anything more Will Smith than looking for inspiration from your previous work instead of other actors?

1. Car Seat Headrest - Twin Fantasy
2. Snail Mail - Lush
3. Hop Along - Bark Your Head Off, Dog
4. Soccer Mommy - Clean
5. boygenius - EP
6. Mount Eerie - Now Only
7. Kids See Ghosts - Kids See Ghosts
8. The 1975 - Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships (This one surprised me)
9. Beach House - 7
10. Mitski - Be the Cowboy

Yeah, there’s a lot of hinky stuff here. Correlation is not causation, folks!

For all of its problems, I still enjoyed the second season of Legion, and don’t think it deserves the hate it’s gotten. It is a step down from the first season, but still had some pretty amazing episodes.

Yeah, most of the movie’s problems go away if you re-frame it just as Scott talking about how he came to terms with the fact that his girlfriend has dated people before and has a lot of baggage.

Hey, in 30 Rock he plays Tina Fey’s nice love interest who she actually gets with, something not even Matt Damon could accomplish.

He doesn’t seem to be shaming unbelievers in any way, just expressing gratitude for a higher power, which, given how bonkers Pratt’s career path has been, seems pretty fitting.

I still like him, but he does have a pretty limited range that seems to have kind of been driven into the ground. I haven’t really seen him get many new roles lately outside of sequels to past franchise entries.

Who is pushing back against Die Hard being the best holiday movie?
