Besides the fact that it's perfectly fine to be intolerant of intolerance and that such behavior is, in fact, what all societies should strive for seeing as exclusion based on something like skin color is antithetical to a society that can survive, thrive and grow, no, I suppose there's nothing wrong with your logic.

Ohhhhh, you're one of those "can't be intolerant to intolerant people, because then YOU'RE the real bigot" guys. Gotcha.

This. The people saying "DURR MOVIES HAVE ANIMALS TALK ALL THE TIME" are missing the point. Those talking animals are, 99% of the time, fully realized and independent creatures, capable of taking care of themselves and 100% of the time do not interact with you at all. This is completely different.

This actually dovetails nicely with the oft-asked "would you want to be able to more clearly communicate with your pet" question.

Racism is calling black people "niggers" or attempting to exclude them from public places on the basis of their race.

Listen, $90 is $90.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH, tough guy.

Which presents its own issues, because you can only get so immersed at that point. You're wearing a monitor on your head, but you're still playing Call of Duty (or what have you) with a controller. You're still moving, acting, etc. with buttons. You're just wearing the monitor as opposed to looking at it.

You're conflating two arguments I'm not.

That sounds like an awful lot of techno-PR speak you're just taking on faith.

The only videos I've seen promoting this thing as the new revolution in gaming show people struggling to remain stationary and upright while wearing it.

Every single "look how fun this is" video I have seen (and fun is the #1 reason why thing thing will be made available) shows people laughing at whatever schmuck is wearing the headset as they struggle to remain upright while wearing it.

I seriously doubt that this tech, 3D, that was the new hotness in 2012, got billions of investment dollars from everyone in 2013 and was dead by 2014 was so poorly researched that VR is just gonna swoop in and blow everyone away.

FPSes and 3D/VR cannot be compared for a variety of reasons. Don't be obtuse.

So I can wear eyeglasses rather than a huge headset while I flail around in my living room, knocking lamps over and crashing into coffee tables. That's, uh... not really a selling point.

Also consider that VR is going to be even worse than 3D in terms of inducing vertigo, nausea, headaches and all the other wonderful health effects that were at least 50% of the reason 3D never had a chance, even right out of the gate.

3D had massive investments, vastly improved impressions from it's last foray into the consumer electronics sphere and videos that worked really well to hype it.

Faith that it will be a super huge fad that hits the right price point to sweep the nation in a rush of hype? 10.

Of course everyone is free to contribute an opinion, but to complain that Deadspin has too much MMA coverage is to complain that the Sahara Desert gets too much rain.
