I’d noticed you not commenting around Jez, but honestly I thought you were just keeping to Deadspin. Glad you’re back, tho!

They gave you an impossible task because they’re blowing you off.
Good luck! I recently got licensed to practice medicine in Massachusetts and it was a nightmare. After six months of turnaround, they asked for a letter from my supervisor (who doesn’t even work at the same institution any more) for a research fellowship I did in 2009 to talk about my attendance and duties. No time…
I just wanted to pass along a hug.
Yeah, that’s weird, cuz most likely those supervisors are no longer in those positions or with the company any longer. I mean, who stays that long anywhere these days? I say, give her the names anyway if you know them, cuz most companies have a policy that says “we only confirm employment dates and say nothing about…
Nice! I love finding money/gift cards around my house, and it sounds like you got a pretty sweet haul. :)
That was not a reasonable request. The recruiter is full of shit, possibly because his/her employer is too. Keep looking, the process of finding a new job is always messy. Keep at it tho.
I’m still in school, but this is sort of career-related and I don’t know where else to share it: I got rejected by a summer program at Princeton University. The instructors are writers/reporters for various big news outlets, and the program supposedly helps place alumni in journalism internships once they’re in…
Good luck with everything, looking for work sucks. I’m in my feelings at the moment, but I feel your stress.
Who the hell can even track down 8 year old references in today’s unstable-employment economy?! I can’t even remember my supervisor’s second name from that far back. That recruiter is a dumbass.
Sigh. This was my afternoon:
Yay, it’s SNS and I actually made it in time, for once! It’s been a hell of a few weeks, Jezzies. FIL had a heart attack, flatlined and then was in ICU for 11 days and it was touch and go for a while. Happily, he’s healing up fine and they were able to sort out a lot of his problems. He’ll have to go back for 2 more…
It’s my 35th birthday tomorrow. That looks weird to even type. Halfway through the 30s already. Wtf. My older daughter will be 8 in a few weeks. Wtf. TIME. You crazy son of a gun.
I had a glorious pizza today. Goat sausage, fiddleheads, grana padano, apricots, spruce tips, spinach apple pesto. NOM. What you eating?
Rock’s FLUMMOXED reaction is never not five star quality. He hasn’t had that much vitriol since the time he slagged the Kings in Sacramento.
Oh yeah, Rock was STEAMED during that post-event promo. IIRC, he even briefly stopped to tell some nearby folks to diplomatically STFU.
I watched the shit out of Voyager ok it’s first run. Going BACK and watching it... yeah, it wasn’t the best. Janeway had the obstinacy of first season Picard, and there are reasons why we don’t talk about the first season of TNG.
Because they were more inconsistent than other Trek series, particularly Janeway and the Prime Directive. Some of the plot threads were also retreads of those already done, just with a different alien species. e.g. I found the Kazon to be too similar to the Klingon.
JANEWAAAAThe fuck
Ah yes the old “If YOU have evidence, let’s see it” gambit. As if I’m going to Google and paste links for you to read, which will of course change your mind.
Go elsewhere, snowflake. Trump is a disaster for this country. Anyone still supporting him is a moron whose opinion doesn’t matter.
