Stranger Things’ great Season 4 seems to have faded from critic consciousness alarmingly fast. I mean, we could also talk about Eddie Munson’s Master of Puppets solo, or the heartfelt scene between Will and Jonathan that was basically an unspoken coming out moment

Chvrches!

I just finished Wednesday, and had watched it with no awareness on what public opinion on it has been. Her dance scene pretty much made my year, and I’m glad to hear it went over well. I’d assume people would have hated it.

Poor Ruth. In that moment, I just wish somebody would give her a big hug.

I can’t quite put my finger on what it was about Season 2, but it really felt so much better than S1. Perhaps that’s just the nature of moving towards the finish line, but there were powerful moments throughout S2, and a lot of great momentum. That ending chilled me to the bone.

I’m feelin like its Pinocchio. We got a couple this year alone

Wow, lol. Happy holidays?

They don’t need to cancel it. They just need to replace Jenkins. She proves female directors can be hacks too, and when you deliver something as bad as WW84, you shouldn’t be gifted a 3rd movie. We need to stop being married to the idea that one person can hold a franchise hostage and call it “seeing their vision

Indeed. And as I saw it, 2017's Wonder Woman was enjoyable, but still just ‘ok’ as superhero movies go, and I wanted someone else at the helm for WW moving forward.

I’ve been on record saying Patty Jenkins was a bad fit for Wonder Woman, she should in no way be givenownership’ of this franchise, and I think the sequels should have given some other directors a crack at it.

I want to give this comment a standing ovation. The first WW was such a missed opportunity for exactly these reasons! Some really rich themes were sitting right in their lap, but instead Jenkins and co. went for something more shallow and basic. If I wouldn’t settle for that storytelling in a male-centric superhero

If Death Stranding didn’t put my devotion to Hideo Kojima to the test, DS2 will. That game was not fun for me, I didn’t enjoy my time with it, and yet, here I am contemplating if I’ll get the sequel (I thought it was a really cool trailer).

I think both movies have their merits, so that’s unfortunate.

Matilda is my favorite of his books, but I actually didn’t care for the movie at all. I think The Witches is the best of his adaptations. I didn’t even know someone made Esio Trot, so now I really want to see it.

yea, that threw me, lol

I could only do half. I’m slippin. Several of my favorite shows all had or are nearing their final seasons, which may have effected why they ranked so high. May also explain why I’m starting to watch less tv. Anyway, my 2022 probably stacks up like this:

I’m really interested to see how newcomers receive this show. I’ll actually be on the side in the know, and that feels like a pop culture first for me

It’s a small moment in Part 2. “Important” might be pushing it...

Fully agreed, and I think the problem is “slowed down 80s cover” comes off as a cliche thing all trailers do now, and it makes The Last of Us look cliched

I liked Rhapsody in Blue and the one with the whales
