1988 actually, so it’s even older! To be fair, there’s no denying beefy guys was the norm back then and Die Hard was an outlier. But what’s funny about Bersanti’s comment is, the lean, vicious guys were always in the realm of martial arts movies, which I’d argue John Wick half is.

The Marshal Mathers LP 2? Nah

Maybe I read into it too much, but to me, the chilling thing about the store clerk’s monologue, was that it felt like he could be talking about something else...

That’s good to know. I figured it was a regional thing, like “soda” and “pop”

Perfection

Before clicking, I was thinking who it might be, and I guessed Rebel Wilson. I’m actually pleasantly surprised its Adam Devine, because I did really like him. But in small doses. A whole spin off is pushing it

Agreed. And I thought I heard the 6th season was going to be the last anyway?

I kind of agree, there’s not much else they can do besides a Miyagi prequel- and I hope it doesn’t happen. I can only see it being disappointing because his whole essence is his sage wisdom, which he undoutedly won’t have as someone younger, effectively making him another character entirely.

I know it makes sense to have him be the narrator now... but he just. Doesn’t. Sound. Right.

Who am I to tell the richest man on the planet how to do his business? But I really thought this was a bad investment...

I guess I look at RE5 with more of a glass half-full sort of lense. The creative team also chose to give Resident Evil its first Black female protagonist, and as a fan of the Jills and the Claires, I thought that was awesome. (Wonky A.I. not withstanding- She’s better in co-op.) I also appreciated that it was set in

I think that’s reasonable about RE5. I remember most of this backlash being pre-release, based on impressions from images or trailers before even getting the game. But once folks played through it for themselves, that narrative more or less died down, save for the types who really really wanted to cling to it.

LOL! To be fair, she looked embarrassed to be there like she was having fun

Heh. You’re talking about Iron Man 2, aren’t you? Because yes, Sam Rockwell was the best thing about it!

Can’t believe I’m stuck grading papers on a rainy Friday. OK, Let’s see...

If names as recent as Ari Aster and Jordan Peele can be eligible for “All-Time”, then I want to throw my name in the hat for Alex Garland, director of Ex Machina, Annihilation, and Men.

I thought reviews for Nope were pretty good, which is why I’ve felt like an outlier in saying it’s lacking. You could have told me it was made by M. Night Shyamalan, and I’d believe you.

He might be speaking to recent Marvel output. In Multiverse of Madness, Doctor Strange felt like a nervous schoolboy again in his behavior with Rachel McAdams. Shang-Chi is derided by his family because he’s a valet going nowhere fast. The immaturity of the Eternals (despite being centuries old), Thor and Jane as

Ant-Man is arguably the most prominent parent of MCU’s heroes (Iron Man and Hawkeye’s families are more in the background). However, he is also undoubtedly a man-child, which speaks strongly to Cameron’s point.

But then, the only other way to take that is he just doesn’t want anyone doing anything, and everybody just stays home
