How do you even respond to an offer like that? It's sort of amazing to think that anyone could have that degree of clueless narcissism that they would think someone would go for that.

Let me share a story of a restaurant owner who cared. I worked with a lawyer who helped her younger sister open a restaurant. Fabulous, hearty Italian fare. They gave their workers benefits bc they desperately wanted a staff that they could train and retain. And they were innovative. They hired a dishwasher with

If this is a Tim's in Canada, they get 1.5x hourly pay, plus the statutory pay. I always begged for holiday shifts.

The Hubs worked 14 hours on Christmas, 14 hours yesterday, and is back at work now doing inventory. He got Thanksgiving off though. It sucks.

Going to toot my own horn here:... My restaurant is open all but two days of the year. For the holidays that we ARE open, I post a sign up sheet. If no one signs up, guess who works? Me. Usually get a lot of good books read... :)

Radio has improved - some - we can pre-record BIG holidays. Happy New Year.

I got offered a full-time manager position at at Tim's - but on the condition that I quit university to "give the business my full attention". I said no.

As long as they get that sweet holiday pay I ain't too mad. If not, fuck that company.

I was very thankful that there's a Starbucks open near my office this morning, because I needed that to work.

At least in Quebec (I'd say "in Canada," but Quebec often goes its own way, and I don't know about anywhere else) since the 25th and 1st are stat holidays, people should be getting double pay if they work.

That depends on the Tim's. At my wife's Tim Hortons, the 24th/25th and 31st/1st were staffed by volunteers (people were asked that, if possible, they sign up for at least one shift—even if it isn't their normal shift—those days, and most people did, but some people had all four days off), and because the 25th and

Uber's employment policies are predatory, and the way they pressure drivers to buy new cars on loans is gross, but I don't think it is predatory to charge more for a ride for New Years Eve. Everything costs more on holidays, we accept it without question when it comes to hotels. Surge price during a disaster, like in

GOD DAMN IT HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT BY EXPLICITLY TYPING IN THAT I AGREED TO 8.4X THE USUAL RATE THAT I WAS GOING TO BE CHARGED 8.4X THE USUAL RATE?!?

I wonder why this guy gets ridiculed in the article while the girl who was charged $300+ on Halloween (and her birthday) was to get our sympathy. Granted, she gave us a few more details (that she couldn't pay her rent because of the Uber bill) and got lots of donations to cover the cost. Does it merely come down to

Ew. Seriously?

Don't drink and ride, kids, it's just not worth it.

"Hi, Thom!!"

That is pretty crappy. I'm 99% sure that the ones in my area were closed on Christmas. Not sure about today. Must be a franchise thing-they can open or close. The franchisee who made that sign is a douche.

Aw, man. I have an irrational love of the Timbit.
