Shocked, I say, SHOCKED! That Kotaku would seek to make a racial issue out of a story that *the subject of the story* doesn’t associate with race!

“Firstly Jeremy, I didn’t know you were going to make it a race issue, I’m quite disappointed to be honest.”
Welcome to Kotaku?
Okay, Stephen Ddungu here. Firstly Jeremy, I didn’t know you were going to make it a race issue, I’m quite disappointed to be honest.
Absolutely. This review is very, very sympathetic to Kim. But her motivation for going after Howard is not his condescension when she was an associate at HHM seasons ago. The triggering event for Kim’s push to destroy Howard was him expressing concern about Kim, because she’s married to the man who threw bowling balls…
... and the actress playing the mother really channeled Seehorn. We went back n forth a bit thinking it was Seehorn, but it was not.
To be fair, Musk is bad
This is a reach, that’s a perfectly OK build. It is actually very cool and fun to run an int/dex build where you adjust towards mageiness or slashiness as necessary.
in the real world? sure I totally get that. but the world that Batman exists in is one where the cops are completely incompetent and incapable of maintaining law and order, sometimes they’re even complicit in the criminal activity that goes on. that’s why Batman exists in this world. he’s there to stop criminals from…
He’s lived for 40 years as the class cutup, most of them with few if any guardrails on where he could take it. I’m not the least bit surprised that he said something offensive, whether it was meant in deliberate offense or not (I’m guessing he was going for cutting and came off plain mean). So at least he’s not…
Agreed, though I would extend that to comedians generally. As a group they're not always great at restraint.
I like how Murray is handling this, and I think it’s instructive on how people ought to react when a situation like this occurs. But overall, I think it would be in everybody’s best interest if cishet white dudes stopped trying to be hilarious at every opportunity they see, even if they are registered clowns.
Did people actually *lose* their jobs?
“Provided, presumably, we someday get details about what actually happened”
Well I disagree with that statement. Also she is a great actor but what is going on with her face there? Wonder if this is like a Mommy Dearest thing, were the director basically let the admittedly talented actress do whatever she wanted with the performance, letting some of her bad instincts over power everything…
It’s her job as a leader to make bold choices? A leader of what?
I like Davis normally but I...do not understand what she was trying to do here.
It’s not a ‘boom’, it’s the soft, wet fart of a damaged ego.
[Walks back statement as soon as she has a performance being considered for an award judged by critics]
...is it boom? Have you never gotten an ounce of utility from a movie review (or even just a recommendation from a friend who shares your taste) in terms of helping you to decide whether to go see it?
It’s almost like movie critics are not exclusively writing their reviews for Davis.
