It’s refreshing to play a hero whose involvement in the plot is personally motivated and not the predestined result of his joining one group instead of the other
I legitimately don’t understand why that scene played out the way it did, because they had no idea what he was ‘supposed’ to look like, right? What was the shock for them even supposed to be?
I want it to be something I don’t like.
NO INCEST
This is totally unrealistic, those turtles are clearly in their late 20's at least.
I want to say The Qun from Dragon Age, although whether it actually qualifies as a ‘religion’ is... debatable. Overall, they’ve done a really a bad job in terms of how members of the Qun are portrayed in the games (pedantic, smug, disingenuous, etc.), but the Qun itself is an absolutely fascinating bit of lore. A…
I’d argue it’s not a cop out in that, although much of the references to the Zen-Sunni or Orange Catholic faiths are oblique and tangential, that actually works in their favor. We get a glimpse at how religion has developed in this universe, and the balance between familiarity and strangeness makes it those glimpses…
If by ‘weird’ we mean ‘stealth sequel to those insane Ewok spin-off movies’, then yes.
The twist is that that guy’s beard is made of nano-machines.
I mean, the short answer? Money. Short of him producing an actual financial bomb, there’s no reason for him to not just keep doing his thing.
Haven’t had a chance to watch the episode yet, but it sounds like we’re possibly missing the bigger picture here:
But what if RZA is tired of being known as the kung fu guy? What if he has new interests and hobbies? Or must he consign himself to such questions forever, trapped in the same genre hole as the rest of us, condemned by the industry to only to enjoy the things we did when we were younger? What is RZA, without these old…
I’m not sure I... understand your point, let alone agree with it. People have been handwringing about online shooters dominating the market for over a decade at least - lootboxes & raids are the most recent attempt to keep that cash cow feeling fresh, not market killers. And by your own logic they’ll get worn out in a…
Maybe I’m just a jaded jerkwad, but this is exhausting just to read about. Being the most edgelord, in your face version of tired ideas and providing basic tweaks to ancient gameplay tropes - if we never hear “you can sneak around, or go in guns blazing!” being touted as some kind of clever approach to player freedom…
That’s it! Thanks.
There’s a blog detailing the production of Carpenter’s version that’s absolutely fascinating, wish I could remember the name.
Dracula is super great, but to be fair, it’s a quick, easy read that’s also got a massive amount of subtext going on, so it’s a lot more open to interpretation than people sometimes make it out to be.
So much of the joy of the first season was that it was a surprise - unexpected but familiar, nostalgic more in approach than material. Treating it as a known, hypable quantity seems to miss the point a bit, sucking it down into the franchise morass it initially rose above.
Cool beans, although hopefully this is them actually investing and not just trying to do this as a tactic to get people to buy into the show...
