The season takes a few episodes to hit its stride, but once it does it gets really good, even better than S1 IMO. Stick with it.

Damn, UKS Season 2 takes a few episodes to hit its stride, but once it does it really does.

It was a really lazy response to the (valid) criticism of S1. If you want to defend that storyline then fine - there's things about it to defend, I think. But basically it just came down to THE INTERNET IS DUMB AND MEAN which is the least interesting and nuanced way to go about doing that.

I have no idea why they didn't just have a reveal that she was adopted. It would've made more sense story-wise and would've removed some of the weird race stuff surrounding it.

I liked the first two episodes, was iffy on the third, but this one was the first one that felt like the show firing on all cylinders. The Don Draper joke was killer.

When will TV comedies realize that Fred Armisen is painfully unfunny?

I am SO happy about that. Also the Amtrak bit in the premiere is maybe my favorite gag the show's done so far.

Just finished 3, which was pretty embarrassing and tone-deaf (though still really funny in parts.) Liked the first two though.

Yeah, my first thought was "but we already have Previously.TV"

I'm so glad we're all on the CEG train. It's bringing me more joy than any other TV show right now.

I usually turn it off because I have a weird fear of being kicked out of a theater for my phone going off even though I'm pretty sure that does not happen…?

I mean, I go to comedy shows in NYC all of the time that have a really young audience and no one is ever on their phones so all of this phone panic is definitely BS. Maybe young people go on their phones while they're talking to their boring family members or whatever but probably just because their boring family

But Blackish would explain why Dre was wrong and have the point be how ridiculous he's being, this episode just had it as a funny aside that no one ever called out.

Also, I could be wrong but I remember Master of None's runtimes being pretty reasonable, like 25-30 minutes. I don't mind those, it's when shows get over 30 that I start questioning.

I think there were some genuine themes of perseverance/PTSD in S1, even if it was mostly just a really funny comedy. If those are gone in S2 it'd be kind of unfortunate, but as long as the jokes are still there I doubt anyone will care much.

I think there's truth to that. S2 felt very Typical Antihero Drama (though I think it's the show's most tightly-written season). But the whole concept of the show was still pretty radical and feels a little less so now that we've had a bit of a 'diversity' boom.

The culture has changed pretty rapidly, there's tons of stuff on '00s TV that could definitely never happen now. I was watching a King of Queens rerun that literally had a plot about a guy who wanted his son to play football so he wouldn't turn gay. No one called him out on it or anything. It felt just as dated as

I think 30 minutes is basically fine for a comedy, but AD Season 4 had episodes pushing the 40 minute mark which was completely fucking ridiculous for a farcical comedy.

I agree that a lot of shows try and fail to be "binge-able" - the Marvel shows have some definite pacing issues, and I really dislike shows that eschew the episodic format entirely and are basically just a slightly longer indie movie (looking at you, Love.) Why not just be an indie movie, then?

I was expecting a bad episode based on the review, but wow….this was bad. It felt like those early S1 episodes before they figured out they needed to dial Jess down about 100 notches. I think this might legitimately be the worst episode the show's ever done.
