If previous examples are any indication, they’ll probably put it back up once the type of person who would yell at them on Twitter about it finds something else to focus on. Sort of underlines that maybe the motive for taking it down in the first place wasn’t altogether selfless.

“exhaustion after all the week’s work and travel,”

They thought it was a good move because nobody had ever heard of the original Lady A until now, when pop culture writers found a cheap way to dunk on the former Lady Antebellum. (No, I’m not a fan, but I can’t stand this kind of easy pile-on bullshit that makes up so much of the Newswire these days.) I’m sure people

I bet there are pearl-clutching conservatives who once denounced her for promoting Satanic witchcraft to children who will now throw buckets of money at her for being openly transphobic.

Fair question. If this thing gets out of control PR wise, Warner may not have much choice but to terminate their contract with her.

He was HUGE in the 80s and really big in the 70's with the Commodores. But man, talk about falling off the cultural radar. You don’t even hear his music in commercials now.

Yeah, I think this might be one of the reasons why there’s the amount of push-back we’re seeing: the (necessarily?) concise messaging isn’t conveying what is actually meant. Obviously, “abolish the police” and “defund the police” fit way better on a placard and have a more visceral impact than, say, “build a reformed

It’s why the left will always lose. This past Tuesday I saw 75% of my instagram feed participate in Blackout Tuesday by posting an all-black photo in solidarity with the BLM movement, and then, later that day, the other 25% telling them they were idiots for undermining the BLM movement and acting as corporate shills.

Alien invasion? Nuclear war? I mean, 2020 is the year that keeps on giving.

AV Club, July 10th: “Now that the moon has exploded, killing 60% of life on earth, will the Tenet release date be delayed?”

I don’t have that option. I can go to the Regal theater with its shitty old seats, screens that look like someone sneezed on them, and hotdogs that are damn near fossils, or I can drive an extra 20 minutes to the AMC that has reserved seating and comfy new recliner chairs in all the screens except the giant IMAX and Do

Ain’t got one.  Next idea?

Yeah this sucks. Come at me.

I don’t know if AMC is a terrible company or not.

Yeah, I think my closest “independent theater” is about 2 hours away.

I have to say, I’ve quite enjoyed A-List. It’s probably the best subscription service out there. I think somebody’ll buy these guys, they have too many properties. OTOH, that debt service...yikes.

Most local theaters are pretty cruddy. (Not all.) AMC is anodyne, but they usually maintain a level of professionalism in the audience experience that a lot of local theaters never even tried to match. And that’s the central mission of movie theaters, because they’re not the product, they’re the place you can see the

My local AMC theaters are honestly pretty great, the one closest to me is a little run down, but they try. My local independent theater is very good and they show a lot more interesting stuff and do great midnight showing events for big blockbusters, so I wouldn't really care if AMC folded. It's probably a lot worse

MJS, I created a burner account to come here and say that this is one of the most intelligent, reasonable comments I have read in a long time about this topic. I was in my early twenties in the 2000's and I absolutely saw “blackface” as exactly what you were describing, versus just an impression in makeup. Not that

It’s all about silver, really. Old mirrors used a silver backing and old film\photographs used silver nitrate. Vampires should be visible in modern, non-silver backed mirrors. They probably startle themselves frequently.
