I don’t think a modern Colbert Report would have Colbert as a die-hard Maga-Hat wearing Trump supporter. I’d see him more as a Trump apologist, like Lindsey Graham.

I don’t think he’s a purely profit-driven capitalist. Part of him probably doesn’t mind the fact he’s found a good niche lightening people’s moods a little while talking about politics, but he absolutely would not want it to stay.
