Doesn’t matter what the city code says. It is not lawful in NY to enforce a toplessness code, unless the activity is commercial in nature.

No, they are not. A city code that conflicts with state-wide law is not enforceable.

Exactly. And it is NOT a matter of a “rapidly changing culture.” NY State’s highest court held in, like, the 60 or 70s that toplessness laws could not be enforced only against women. So, the identity of the individual sunbathing topless is completely irrelevant; those cops are ill-informed.

Even low level drug dealers don’t usually hang out all obvious-like on street corners!

Eww, but also: same.

A lot of these comments overlook that New York has its own constitution, which is often times more protective of the rights of the accused than the U.S. Constitution.

Bye, MSNBC.

Dammit. I tried to read the editorial you linked to, and got about ten sentences in before I was too disgusted to read more.

UAlbany changed the date of their spring break recently so that St. Patrick’s Day would fall during the break — this after one year where there were riots and startling property damage in the area of the city with the highest population of off-campus dwelling students.

The attack was on an CDTA bus, so it’s not a huge leap to assume the attackers were not other UAlbany students. UAlbany students often use the CDTA bus routes, but they also have a UAlbany bus, for students only.

I live in Albany and I grew up in Oswego County, which is basically as rural as it gets in NY. I don’t disagree that there’s a lot of racism in upstate NY. In the “city” of Albany black citizens make up 27% of the population (higher than NYC) as of 2014, so it is not one of the upstate NY places where there are very

Nah, pretty sure that’s a deer. Elk are even bigger. Probably wouldn’t fit in the backseat like that.

They voted to retain the seal as is. It was an extraordinarily informal “vote,” but the results were overwhelmingly in favor of keeping the gross one they have. The comments at a fairly local newspaper website are pretty much what you’d expect from a bunch of rubes — “PC culture,” “always offended,” “casinos blah blah

Bar none, this is the greatest cooking “competition” show to watch. I legit cry towards the end when people are eliminated, because you can tell all the competitors have really become friends and are heartbroken for their friends’ losses even as they are happen to have advanced. It is wonderful and, yes, soothing to

Wallll-eeeee :( ?

I endorse that deal.

You are a generous and giving spirit. If I wasn’t already married, I’d call dibs on this offer.

The word “nerd” and its gross overuse causes me intense eyerolls. This show is dumb. The characters are caricatures in the worst way. And I hate shows with laugh tracks. Have you ever watched a clip of this show without the laugh track.... without the cues about what to find “funny,” it is painful. Also, get off my

I agree with you so hard that “original intent” is bullshit.

No, his ideology, meaning his conservatism. And that ideology most certainly is heavily reflected in his writings.
