the premise reminds me of "Miracle Mile".

Oh good lord. Just what we need — crazy DESTINY-driven interfamilial soap opera. Because that worked so well with Heroes.

Oh heavens yes. Possibly the best episode that the X-Files ever did.

Oh please. You want incomprehensible brushes with the transcendent? GO BACK TO THE 1960'S AND HAVE A NICE STEAMING HOT CUP OF "2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY". Kubrick rejects your linear narrative structure and substitutes A WHITE BEDROOM OF WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WHAT THE FUCK I DON'T EVEN.

That's... damn, that's nerdy.

So, um, 'The Blessing' kind of looks a bit, er, labia-and-vagina like. On a giant scale.

Yeah, that lead image is pretty Uncanny Valley, right there.

The Alloy Orchestra (which is a few guys with overlap with Mission of Burma and Birdsongs of the Mesozoic) does live performances with a really fabulous industrial sort of soundtrack. Modern, but still appropriate for the original source material.

there are a whole lot of blacksmiths - both professional full-time blacksmiths and weekend hobby blacksmiths - who are still making swords with traditional methods. (Some of them use power hammers, though, these days.)

I think it's part of a larger shift — more and more often, stories have to have a protagonist who has a GREAT DESTINY and a hero's quest that involves coming into one's power based on who you are rather than what you do.

I occasionally respond to "Talk Like A Pirate Day" with "WHERE'S THE FUCKING MONEY? DO YOU WANT TO SEE YOUR DAUGHTER'S BRAINS ON THE RUG? GET ME THE FUCKING CARGO OFF THIS BOAT."

Icehouse!
