Wedding: Something will go wrong at the wedding. When that happens, let it be a chance to realize that even though something went off-side, everything is still beautiful and wonderful and special. Use it as an opportunity to relax and be in the moment.

The plotting is pretty iffy but lots of great gags and one-liners.

Yes, exactly. She could be quietly trying to get family and loved ones OUT of Scientology, for all we know. It’s a horrific cult which victimizes all of its members who are not named Tom Cruise or David Miscavige.

Exactly. Fuck Scientology, but Moss cannot leave (or even acknowledge criticism of it) without running a serious risk of literally losing her family. For that reason, I cannot condemn her for staying quiet about it.

Well now I kind of want House of Cards to star Tracy Flick.

Yeah, there was no reason that Capote would mention his specific visits considering the voice he used in that book. He was not trying to be part of the narrative of the story - ironic considering that the extratextual context has become such a part of the book (though paradoxically inserting himself into the narrative

That was in 2009. A year after her mental breakdown. In 2015, she said she was the “happiest [she’s] ever been.” Why can’t we trust HER instead of unnamed sources? Girl overcame life-endangering mental illness.

Goodness, you have an axe to grind.

Oh, there ARE quite a few songs about shooting abusive husbands. But that’s about as political as modern country gets.

He’s not wrong about that IMO. Country music today is, for the most part, very apolitical on its surface, especially in contrast to pop music. It’s got a lot of retrograde sexism (though honestly not more than you’d see in most genres of music), and implicitly racist (listen to a country station for an hour and you

I’m totally with you on this post, but Lynn was kind of a sleaze TBH.

Her mom was the hyper controlling one who pushed her into stardom. Her dad basically checked out. He should have taken better care of her then, but he’s here now.

A lot of celebrities don’t technically need to work. They have enough money. But they keep working anyway, because they want more money and they want to work? How do you know Britney doesn’t want to work? That she doesn’t love performing? That she doesn’t like making lots and lots of money?

Or maybe she loves entertaining and performing, and wants to continue working! Adults with disabilities can have jobs. Wanting to work is not a sign of being exploited.

The fact that we don’t know the details of her personal life and mental health is a good thing. Remember 2007? We knew every dirty detail, and she still nearly killed herself. That situation could have gotten a lot more tragic if not for the very conservatorship that we’re bitching about today.

THANK YOU. I don’t think Jamie has done a perfect job with Britney, but when I remember 2007/2008, I would NEVER have imagined her thriving, happy and healthy with her kids, as she is today, posting dumb memes like normal moms on social media. He literally saved her life and people are shitting on him for it.

You know, for all your expertise about the intimate details of Britney’s personal life, you actually don’t know the severity of her mental health issues.

Exactly. She made a LOT of bad decisions specifically related to cars during the period when she almost killed herself and her children - buying them impulsively and abandoning them, driving with temporary tires for hundreds of miles, driving with her infants in her lap.

Her father didn’t do that. Her mother, who is not her conservator, did.

She is most certainly under medical care. Just because we don’t know the details of her medical conditions doesn’t mean she is being isolated from the care of doctors.
