We optimized our retirement by rolling an old 401(k) into an IRA so we would have more control over our investments. We went with a Roth IRA. Just be sure you're ready for the tax hit when converting to a Roth. Also be sure to research maximum contributions and income limitations.

Since I missed the January budget challenge and my biggest impulse spending is eating out, I’m going to curb my restaurant budget. If I happen to wind up in a situation where I have to eat out, I’ll only order water and a small meal to tie myself over till I get home.
