Kinda out of left field but my first guess was Adam Warlock. That would be a character with plenty of importance and one that Bale’s gravitas would work for.  He would then have reason to interact with both Odinson and the new Thor at various times.

I haven’t watched it but it just looks like a show trying really hard to be a Sorkin show
