Quite recently the mobile game Marvel Future Fight introduced a loot box system. This was shortly after the whole EA debacle and the developers tried to assuage any public outcry by providing every player with enough in-game currency to open one premium loot box.
I, personally, do not support loot box mechanics.
They’ve spent years ignoring the gambling-like mechanics and psychology used on lootboxes while kids spent hundreds, or thousands falling to predators.
The jump scares are fantastic. But for me at least the incentive to replay it just to beat my own score isn’t there. It was a great play through but more of a one-and-done for me.
We’re currently borrowing a friends VR headset and motion controllers; that’s why I want to just rent RE7... sort of a test to see if we want to invest in the equipment.

I cannot think of a single game I’ve played that utilizes this sort of item and actually discloses the formula that the item uses or the exact way it applies the chance for an increased drop rate.
