I don’t necessarily disagree with you but... at the same time this seems pretty standard for anyone learning to manage their addiction.

Let’s play a little game with the pro-gun politicians who like to hide behind “Mental illness is the problem; not gun control”. Let’s play... “what have you done about it”.
And as I said before: User-reported data is probably the most unreliable type of information for a study.
To be fair though not only was gold insanely easy to acquire in WoD, but during most of WoD tokens were stupid-cheap. I regularly picked them up for below 10,000g a piece. My entire subscription throughout Legion was paid for via Draenor-purchased tokens.
I believe giving Horde all of Kalimdor and the Alliance all of the Eastern Kingdoms has been a player suggestion for years. It makes sense in the context of Blizzard’s desire that the two factions never learn to co-exist.
There are so many elements I like about this announcement, but so many things I just find awful or boring.
I haven’t participated as a Nielsen household in several years, but when I did they relied on me to self-report via a fucking paper booklet to hand-enter my viewing habits. Even their hardware solutions rely on self-reporting; you have to indicate that you’re watching a particular program.
Every 98 seconds a person is sexually assaulted in America; we have a lot of lights. Something tells me that would-be sexual assaulters are not light-sensitive creatures that hiss and slink away from a well-placed street lamp.
I should have clarified that in my head this was a quote from the police being reported upon. I don’t think it would be inappropriate for an officer who had interviewed those making accusations to comment in this fashion, as they are essentially weighing in on their credibility without doing so in a fashion that…
The statement is the evidence. The evidence is the statement.
For the sake of argument, let me offer an opinion on why this option, at least, is a poor choice:
I honestly do not know how he has maintained that approval rating.
It’s all about context. Ten years ago Kasich wouldn’t have been considered a middle-of-the-road conservative at all. But in the context of what conservatives look like today? He’s practically liberal.
Certainly a mini-map that encompassed the entire galaxy would be ridiculous. But one that is relative to the world on which you are on? The game already logs areas of a planet you have explored so it stands to reason they already have some location data stored.
I bought it on launch super excited at the hype I’d seen and the trailers because you know it was going to just be AMAAAAAAAAZING (insert jazz hands here to illustrate just how amazing).
The game has been making improvements but I haven’t played it in months... but No Man’s Sky.
I imagine that games like Skyrim / Witcher run into a problem where it simply becomes easier to present information via a mini map than to guess what the user might want / hate being ever-present on their HUD.
+1 for good UX recommendation. Why take away user control when you can provide user CHOICE instead. A toggle to display or hide the map provides the best experience possible to the individual user.
I mean yes, absolutely... but at this point look at how far we’re bending and twisting and re-interpreting the established plot elements to allow Billy to be the Mind Flayer’s new thrall.
Do you legitimately believe this article qualifies as ‘opposition’?
