The Velorex I got a ride in had body panels of painted/rubberized canvas, not dead animals. Hide from anything but a Nauga wouldn't do that well in the rain.

Under British laws, any three wheeler that weighs under 10 CWT (1120 lb) is a motorcycle with sidecar. So the reliant robin counts, but they aren't strange enough. So here is the one we converted to coal fired steam... Junkyard steam car build
even better i got to hear it run two weeks ago.
So did they say anything about the model 3? If they are at capacity with the S/D, there is little reason to make the 3, but I want a decent electric ride, and wouldn't be able to convince the SO to spend that much on wheels.
One advantage to living in the Boston area, is you get to have them work on your wheels. I ran into them initially when their "Good News" garage, was a DIY rent a bay, get tools and advice. A few years later, a friend who was working at the state Attorney General's office, told me that Good News was where they sent…
Too tired to dig up pictures, but a bunch of the small Fiat's (original 500, and 600) and a bunch of renault's. (the dauphine is the one I have personal experience with. Had it as a winter beater, crap car, but a great heater)
Ok, I started driving before you were on solid food, so my list will be a long one... (especially the early years, when I was driving sh$*boxes) Learned in a 68 vw bus, first thing I bought was a 66 nissan 311 fairlady (1600) It got T-boned (sob), I got thru that winter with an early 60's Renault Dauphine. (crap…
Is any towing permitted? What exactly does it have for a drivetrain? While that cargo space looks huge, I assume that 4x8 sheet goods with all doors closed isn't going to happen.
You can buy a RFID reader for under $50. Since they don't involve sliding contacts, they are more durable than a USB. If you want to get silly, you can buy an implantable RFID chip (intended for identifying pets) for not a lot of $, and a piercing studio should charge less than the same $50 to install it.
I would go $500, just to take it LeMons racing. Or perhaps $666 for a demolition derby night. (it has enough extra metal and weight that it might last a while). Otherwise, I don't want whatever they were smoking, if it made this sound like a good idea.
If you are working with metal, get an angle grinder. They aren't that expensive, and very useful. (harbor fright will sell you a bad one for $15, a good one is around $100) They also throw impressive streams of sparks. Most that you will find take a 4 1/2" wheel. You can also get 9" sized models, if your usual…
Make it more entertaining, run the calculation while carrying its usual load...
Any of the air cooled VW type 2's. At gvwr, it was about 100lb/hp. Or for that matter, any semi at rated max. Sure its got 500hp, but it might have to drag a total of 80,000 lbs up that long grade.
This is Texas, everyone knows it's spelled (or at least pronounced) bidness.
will confirm the microcar positive attitude. The Lars Anderson micro event is the only one of their lawn show series that is a must see. Over the past ten years, I have had a ride in an Isetta, a Messerschmidt, a bond bug, two interesting hombuilts (one electric, one diesel) an electrified Sonnett, a Subaru 360, a…
He should just install motorcycle tires, It would save some weight, and not chnge the contact patch apreciably. Why lug around the middle 80% of the tire, when its never coming in contact with pavement.
Show up in Delaware to see this things bigger cousins. While these things are quieter than their explosive powered counterparts, they are still audible for distances greater than one mile. First a loud "thwoop" then several seconds of whistling. Not to mention the cloud of condensate, and the roar of the engine…
My personal favorite, that a friend collected on one of his construction trips (he was a civil engineer, specializing in water and sewer systems, with the occasional oil loading complex thrown in for variety). In one of the third world former British colonies, he found and photographed a wonderfully ironic sign.
Besides differing emissions rules, and differing fuel formulations (no propping up ADM by the ethanol spiking), there are the various safety regs that can add hundreds of pounds (and in the case of bumpers, a heavy dose of ugly) to the US editions. Other things that add weight, increase the idling overhead, or in…
Here is the machine we built. Of course with only three wheels, it is legally a motorcycle with sidecar. Details at http://the-nerds.org/Steam-Car-Day.html
