One of my life mottos: never trust horror fan reviews of any horror films because horror fandom tends to watch their favourite pop culture media with a very patronising and condescending eye. Like, I have to add a full integer to every horror in IMDB to know how good or bad it is.  

He recovered fast though: Excalibur worked really well. 

Not sure how sarcastic that is, but Renny Harlin had a fantastic start as a horror film director.

it’s one of those middle age straight guy fantasies. Yesterday I was watching the latest Insidious film and it was again, yet again, the divorced dad in pain narrative, shape of so many horror, thriller and hard science fiction books to make some kind of conflict.

Yay, death of the author, but in this case I would argue that the on-the-nose narrative is more interesting than the “is this real” trope. 

Yeah, I am one of those who thinks that the narrative “AI will be a dangerous weapon if it achieves consciousness” is just a useful distraction over “AI is just a tool by the same rich people everywhere to pocket more money without investing anything saved in anything that benefits humanity”. Brave New World, Beggars…
