I think they should prime her to turn it all around

The day after the election, when I found out that 62 million Americans walked into the voting booth, looked at the choice between “Hillary Clinton” and “Donald Trump”.....and somehow decided to pick “Donald Trump”.

People just don’t like her. And when she tries to be more likable, it gets worse. I respect and admire her, and proudly voted for her, but many many Americans just can’t get past the fact that they fundamentally don’t like or trust her. Liberals and conservatives.

Like, 10pm on election night. Seriously, I was “this is not happening!!!” up until I went to bed. Even then I thought “maybe something crazy will happen while I am sleeping.” I got a 3am text (you know the one) from a very distraught friend.

It was when the Comey letter showed up. Up until then, I thought it was close but winnable. After the 10 days of speculation and gibberish between the arrival of the letter and the confirmation that there was nothing to see, I got the sinking feeling that there wasn’t enough time for her to battle back.

My heart sank when Comey made his announcement about investigating additional emails. I just felt like fate had it out for her. But I honestly believed she’d pull through until election night. When Florida’s results started rolling in. Fucking Florida.

Partial disclosure- I ran a major swing state for a major endorser/coordinator (edited to cut identiying info), I was worried at times during the primaries especially after NH and Michigan. In the general I was certain we’d lost as soon as the Comey letter hit while I was driving to a closing event (edited again).

It felt like every Trump gaffe, all 11,0000 of them, barely moved the needle, while any time Clinton stumbled a little bit, it was a huge swing in Trump’s direction. Almost as if voters just needed a reason, any reason, not to vote for her.

This may just be my existential despair talking, but most of the time I feel like nothing she could have done would have made a difference. We still would have ended up with the Cheeto in Chief because everybody is sexist and racist and life is terrible and we’re all going to die.
