They’re not artificially limiting battery if they’re claiming WLTP and independent testing range of 285miles. 

Why elect the 2-cycle method, take the derating factor, then call for an independent testing (ACMI) to prove that it does make at least 275mile range? Why go through all the trouble unless they really want to avoid the 5-cycle testing.

Why does it matter if “electric vehicle testing is complicated”. As long as the EPA applies it’s rules across the board for all electric car manufacturers, why give Porsche special treatment?
