If I were a betting man, I’d say the Model Q will probably just be a de-contented Model 3 with cheaper interior materials, less powerful motors and a smaller battery.

just bought an Equinox EV for $38.8k before $7500... that’s pretty close

You shouldn’t believe their reports. John Oliver did a great episode on McKinsey, I suggest watching it.

Even if EV operating costs are on par with gasoline, I’ll still stick EV’s in the future.  Not having to stop at a grubby gas station has been a bigger advantage than I was expecting.  Plus EV’s a quieter and smoother to drive.

Pretty sure that the guy who’s on a 3 year wait list to get his SF90 is going to yawn when Ferrari tells him the price just went up by 10% because of tariffs.

2nd Gear: While reducing the number of Brontosaurus-sized vehicles on the road would be better for safety (pedestrian and otherwise), reducing the speed limit is absolutely the easier regulation to enforce.

Non-issue! They can just hire more people to watch those driving the Teslas. Mind you, I’m sure some of those people will falter as well, but you better believe I have a perfect solution tucked away for that contingency.

Imagine sitting playing the most boring car video game of all time for hours on end”

I cant see them operating any of this where there exists snow and/or ice, just for the “lack of feel” aspect you described. Without being able to sense the slickness of the road (which changes often, and from road to road) a remote driver is either going to crash or be forced to drive at about 3 mph.

I definitely read that last line with “movie trailer announcer voice” and it was very amusing for me!

So, in short: Let’s disrupt taxis by moving the driver to a remote location. And make it so they have to pay constant attention to intervene, while being removed from what is actually happening around the car.

Independent vehicles dependent on independent humans, dependent on getting paid by an independent non-auto company dependent on making autos that are independent.

Some will trust it. Some won’t survive their trust. Some who don’t survive their trust won’t be the ones who gave said trust in the first place.

I can’t even begin to express how much “nope” I feel about getting into a remotely operated “autonomous” cab.

Tesla Cybercab Will Be Remote Controlled Until FSD Improves”

Our education system is pretty bad, and basically tailor made to create debtors to feed the top tax brackets.

Wwould have fined much more and banned him from owning any dealership for 5 years. These guys they prey on the ones that aren't gearheads, but as bad as things are HOW! can anyone be fooled like this?

Honestly it’s not a bad sales strategy, although it’s incredibly sleazy (what used car salesman isn’t?). Giving advice that seems honest is probably effective at getting naive people to trust you, and therefore trust that when you sell them a car, they are getting a fair deal and being taken care of.
